I can’t say that id9 or id8 is going to make a whole difference to your car. In another year it’ll be id10, what you going to do then, sell and buy another X1?
At the end of the day it’s a new software, but not a massive leap, much like the difference between Apple ios 15 to 16. It’s easy to get hung up on this stuff but honestly i’d ignore it, in fact you may find people with id9 have plenty of teething issues compared to the stable id8. |

The difference is in a year's time it's likely that ID9 will take the update to ID10 whereas ID8 definitely won't. ID9 is a major departure from ID8, which is now a sunset system. Pays your money takes your choice. Rather depends how long you want to keep the car, in my case probably the last ICE I'll be able to buy new, so my order specifies ID9.

Its not quite so clear cut though, many models today are STILL going to get ID8 for a good while and that will evolve into the look and feel of ID9 but be called ID8.5
I don't believe the new i7 et al are ID9 they are 8 and brand new models and as such its not legacy just another tack of development. Will BMW go all in on Android based OS, who knows it's entirely possible they think its the wrong direction and flip back or move to Apple, unlikely but possible. Ours is coming in a month or so now and I'm not loosing a wink of sleep over it. I've got ID7 on the X3 does it bother me its not ID8 and I should wait or even 9, nope not at all. Understand the latest should be the best but I think there is a reason it's not going widespread early and only a single market is getting the rollout, this is one thing I'd rather not be a early adopter with. Hey All, my order has progressed further along and I've found more ways to track and wanted to list them all in case others also find them useful.
Firstly when you get your VIN number and ship details you can track the ship with vessel finder and if it's a WWL ship can check the ships schedule from the shipping companies website: https://www.vesselfinder.com/ https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com/schedules If receiving in Melbourne or stopping by at Melbourne you can check the MIRRAT schedule and traffic management spreadsheet for up to date scheduling info: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...t#gid=79611077 Once the ship nears docking BMW will book in the Prixcar collection and compliance checking for compliance plate. You can put your VIN number in their website to check status of this: https://e2.prixcar.com.au/e2/DirectA...rackerHome.jsp While waiting for Prixcar to collect and confirm compliance you can check the BMW recall site with your VIN number to verify it won't get a stop sale for a recall which could delay delivery: https://www.recall.bmw.com.au/ You could also check if the compliance checks are complete on your VIN and registered with Department of infrastructure: https://rav.infrastructure.gov.au/ After this can then check if the car has been registered by doing a registration enquiry with VicRoads (For Vic buyers, other state buyers would need to check their equivalent of VicRoads) using the VIN number: https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/regi...ration-enquiry Hopefully all these tracking options help keep you up to date with your new vehicle movements |

I believe the congestion is clearing up, my X1 arrived in Melbourne only three or four days after originally scheduled at the regular port of melbourne car terminal (mirrat) dock. It also seemed to have passed quarantine quite quickly as it was compliance approved and added into the register only two days later! I received a call from BMW saying the ship would be arriving a week before it did but haven't had any other calls to book in the collection yet but I'm assuming and hoping next week some time Hopefully yours come in soon also. |

I got the call from the dealer! X1 is ready for pickup this weekend.
Total time was a little over 5 Months and the links I've posted earlier in the thread helped me keep track of the vehicle and I hope it helps others track theirs also. |

Are these earlier cars out of Germany? Our sales rep told us they would be built in USA or Somewhere in America. |

They have started production in another plant but only the 1.5 petrol derivatives at the moment, in one of the US/Mexico plants I believe.

Not on the X1 they won't, ID9 will be fitted from Nov but from all the info I've seen ID8.X won't be coming to any X1 only ID8. BMW change their minds but that's what they have said in the various announcement and launches recently and some of that is on their own ID9 video.

Well mine is finally around the corner.
Ordered October 5, 2022. Finally was told what ship it was on a month ago and now it's just off the coast of WA on track for May 20 arrival at Port Kembla.. probably a 2-3 week after that to get out of the port... detail and clean etc... but thank lord it's finally arriving. The ship is called Salome and is arriving Melbourne port 17/5 and Port Kembla 20/5. For anyone wondering.. yours might be on there too. I just asked my dealership and they told me the exact ship name. |
