As for beer while I like craft beers depending on the occasion I usually stick with light stuff like Corona, Pacifico, New Castle etc. Mostly because when I drink beer its because I want something light and refreshing, I don't want that much alcohol because I will probably be having a few and it's usually in the middle of the day. If I have an IPA or something like that it's usually too heavy and I'm buzzed after one. That's no fun. If I want to get drunk I drink bourbon or scotch. Typically later in the day. |

And just what the fun are these BudLight Mixtails???? Are they beer flavored like Long Island, or are they pre-fab mixed drinks?

Why is the only option between a $0.50 shit light american piss beer and a $4.00 masked flavor over hopped hipster beer?
What happened to the $1.50-2.00 UK/GER/DEN/CZECH options? Wonderful pilsners, kolsch, blondes, hefeweiss, weiss, meiers, browns, blacks, reds, porters, stouts, hell I can go all night. On the other hand, the French and Italians do not know how to make good beer. More and more I'm not sure Americans do either (you can have anything you want, as long as it's an IPA!). Though I do enjoy that the boston brew co actually tries to make their beers properly and not just hop everything to death. Don't even get me started on lambics. In general I love the Belgian options but they're just too damn expensive most of the time for regular consumption.

I've been enjoying Sam Adams Rebel IPA or Double IPA lately. Might be too hoppy for some, but I love me some bitter beer.

Hmm. Maybe you're shopping in the wrong places?
I just recently had an outstanding Kolsch and a great Pils from a local brewery in NC. Didn't taste the slightest bit like an IPA. I agree that IPA's are a huge fad right now, but I haven't been disappointed with the local stuff in NC that isn't an IPA.

Foothills out of Winston Salem has some really good stuff. The Torch Pilsner from there is a fine example. The Kolsch I had was from Bull City Burgers and Brewery in Durham. The hefeweizen I have been drinking lately is my own recipe. No hop aroma or flavor to speak of. Just clove and a slight banana goodness. As far as darker beers go, I've recently really enjoyed the "Coffee is for Closers" coffee porter from Fullsteam Brewery. Only if you're into the coffee flavor though. I've found myself enjoying good American Pale Ales more recently than the over-the-top hoppy IPA's and IIPA's that are so prevalent. I've actually made a recipe for a single malt, single hop session APA that I'm going to try soon. I just need room in my fermenter. I have a rye IPA in there now that I need to keg.

I'm a recent convert to beer snob, and can be a dick sometimes, so...
Now about the only thing I'll drink are German beers, but as they're expensive, and I'm cheap; I limit myself to two. I hate the taste of liquor, and wine gives me an instant headache. I came of age in a small town that Playboy magazine rated #1 beer consumption per capita, and legal age was 19. |

Guess I'm gonna have to "go against the grain" with you guys on this. Because I friggin LOVE the combo of a fresh BeerRita!!!
The key is NOT letting it get all melty. But think about this for a second... If you like Lime/Lemon in your beer (which I do) and you like Tequila, the flavors are very complimentary IMO! I have one at least once a month and more during the Summer. Here's one from one of favorite spots:

Do you like Beer?
Do you like Margarita? If yes to both, then you WILL like the above! Don't knock it til you try it...

I don't do light beers, end of list. I've never had a margarita and I'm damned proud of it... I still regret this one time I went to a party with a damned bunch of teeny-boppers who thinks Natural Light is the best thing on earth, and I reached for a wine cooler only because I somehow got drunk off of said Natural Lights while playing king's cup+beer pong and my judgment lapsed. ONCE. . I've gone way too far into quality European beers and craft brews to go back to standard-grade American lager or again, ANY light beers, plus variants/cocktails thereof. Ironically, I used to like Budweiser until someone offered me a bottle last month .
