Most these police encounters that turn bad can be avoided by not being a douche. But I'm sure you gave the cops no reason to hate you |

Here is a list of police deaths by year. http://www.nleomf.org/facts/officer-...data/year.html Danger is part of the job of being a cop, which is why they tend to be compensated pretty damn well. And lets face it in majority of areas a cop can go through his whole career without ever being truly put in harms way. As far as danger goes, lineman and firefighters have a much higher change of getting killed on the job than cops do. |

Of course not, but why assume they are ALL bad and automatically believe every claim made against them is accurate and true, even if reported only by tabloids?

No which is why we are all skeptical about her story. Still can't get over the "Obama follows me on twitter" part...

Like most instances, when we have all the facts (if we even ever get them, the media doesn't seem to care too much on this story), I'm sure we'll see both sides share part of the blame. |

1083 people killed by police in the past 12 months alone "Some" (small %) of them by race profiling i'm sure but can't argue that most officer lack traning. I'm not sure if youve ever been to NYC people are pretty douchy and "some" police officers are even douchier with a badge. I dont know if her story is true i'm sure there is more to it but police lack training period. if youre a police officer and someone gives you lip because you gave them a ticket and starts talking nonsense you finish with your job and give them the ticket you dont take it personal and evaluate her mental health and take her to a mental hospital. Youre a public servant not a doctor and now us tax payers foot the bill. |

Also gonna go out on a limb and say the majority of the cops killed by criminals werent doing anything illegal and probably not being a danger to the public. Just saying. If you cant accept the fact that you were caught in the wrong and are getting a ticket because of it so you feel the need to treat the officer like shit, why would you think the officer is going to treat you nicely? No cops cant just pull you over cause you are being a dick to them, ie flipping them off, making faces/gestures towards them..., but it will make them watch you closely, and there are many little nuances to the law that they know and the average person does not, so you will get pulled over and ticketed. |

Right because everyone that is killed by the cops is a vicious criminal out on a rampage. Such as the case in Cali when the guy was sitting on the ground and not resisting. Cop told him he was going to "kick his ass", then the cops buddies joined in on the fun.. In the end the guy died from the unprovoked beating. A lot of cops like to operate from the Gestapo handbook. http://www.rt.com/usa/footage-kelly-death-thomas-811/ Describing his own actions, Officer Cicinelli is recorded on tape in the aftermath to explain, "We ran out of options so I got the end of my Taser and I probably…I just started smashing his face to hell.” Officer Cicinelli would have done quite well in the SS-Sturmbrigade Dirlewanger. this post is starting to take a bad turn... just like there are good people and bad people, there are good cops and bad cops. People should always treat other people with respect and that includes cops as well. I agree 100% that giving police a hard time after being pulled over (whether you think you were rightfully pulled over or not) is silly and will not do anything to help the situation; however just because someone talks back to a cop its does not ever give them the right to abuse their authority. Know your rights people, even if you are ever totally wronged, as soon as you proceed to be respectful and you know your rights after the storm clears you will be just fine

Because I would like to see a soceity where cops are more careful and conscienscois when dealing with civilians, especially for NON Violent matters such as traffic etc. We have too many issues of cops going overboard and doing something stupid to people, especially black people on situations that should have resulted in no issue at all in the last 2 or so years, we have had Sandra Bland, which could have not ended the way it did We have Walter Scott, the guy who was running away because he feared going back to Jail for Child Support and was shot in the back there there is LeVar Jones, who turned back into his van to provide ID requested by the police and was shot Should i go on as there is DOZENS More? For the record, I have never been assaulted or manhandled by the Police, even though i once spent a night in jail unfairly so. but even then i was treated with respect and dignity so I do not hate the Police. I hate a world where tardiness and abuse is excused and people can simply be abused and end up losing their lives by Police who refuse to follow the proper protocol and show respect to people who are human beings just like they are.... So i want her to Win and win big, because i want the police to be forced to be careful and follow proper procedures when they are dealing with Civilians. I have two Sons and I want to make sure I help to create a word where they are not victimized and abused by people who have sword to serve and protect. |

However nowadays it seems the Cops are the ones who are allowing minor tensions to escalate into messy situations with the belief that they are some kind of protected group separate and a apart from the rest of the society |

Civilians are of all kind, and if you are not trained to manage different kinds of personalities and to diffuse a potentially bad situation, maybe you SHOULDN'T become an officer, or if you are, go do some desk duty of some investigative work that doesn't require you being involved with people of all kinds of temperament on a day to day basis........ Maybe Police officers should take a look at Politicians, who have to take all kind of sheettt from people who either do not support them or are upset for not doing what they should, these politicians have some kind of ability to be graceful even in the face of rapid opposition. I'm not saying Police shouldn't enforce the law, or should allow Citizens to be all in their face, but something is broken in this country with Police/ Civilian relations and we ought to stop making excuses for unprofessional and mean spirited police officers |

It's like a vicious cycle. People get wind of potentially anecdotal evidence that police mishandled a situation involving an African American and then they're more likely to lash out towards law enforcement should they be pulled over or stopped, which then causes police to react in a way that may or may not be appropriate, thus making things worse. Is that the case here? Maybe, maybe not. We obviously only have half the story. But people are quick to jump to conclusions, you yourself already said you hope she wins a big settlement after only hearing her side of the story. |
