I went to Boston last year, it was a breeze Plus they have parking with regular charging everywhere Why do you need Supercharger near your home? Whole idea is to travel through the network which has them every 50-100 miles in a lot of cases. http://supercharge.info/ You just plug in every night as you come home and you never need to visit another gas station in your life, where people spend hours per year Once you're on the road, just stop on the supercharger for 30min, have a snack, etc, while it's charging enough to reach to the next one |

This is the direct result of the cutting the corners. I was surprised today when people were talking about the news of the Bmw 3 series poor quality headlights at my work. they are ordinary people who don't care about the steering feel, they respect the brand and they were surprised by low quality product from a respected company, and I don't blame them. recently I drove a loaner 2015 328 after I left my 2011 335 for the service at the dealership, I missed my car as soon as I seat in 328, cheap interior plastic, weird screening feel, and the headlights! I asked myself if that poor quality lighting is even legal! And car had a price tag of 42 k.
I still love Bmw and I have 2 of them, but I have a hard time to convince myself to upgrade my slick e92 335 to a new 435. When my wife wanted to replace her older x5, I couldn't convince her to choose new x5 over a range rover sport. Bmw still makes pretty good cars, Nokia also used to make great phones! I heard tesla 3 pre sold 180 000 cars in just one day. I was wondering how many of those people used to have 3 series in the past. When others are making excellent products, making somethings good is not enough anymore. Look what happened to Nokia! |

The 2 series sales are healthy though. The only BMW that I considered and now own. Why? Because it is the closest thing to the legendary E46 that BMW now makes.

We all know that growth is sustainable forever, So basically if you have an excellent sales month, the following year you have to repeat and add to it. Very sustainable indeed.

I've owned bmws since 2004. A total of 8 in the last 12 years. There's a reason I still admire the e46 m3 until now. The built quality was better the driving experience superior the looks jaw dropping for its time. The same can be said about my e92 m3 I owned even though I felt like the built quality was better in the e46(less plastic). Regardless, these cars left an impact on me and I absolutely loved them! Even my 2005 Bmw 330ci zhp I admired. These are the last vehicles I remember being amazing from BMW. I'll never forget them.
Even though I currently own a 2015 640i m sport gran coupe, which I think is the sexiest car Bmw offers at the moment if things don't change I won't be driving another BMW. My wife has a 2015 528i which I don't understand how it has a 55k msrp. The car is all plastic, boring 4 cylinder, boring 4 cyclinder and boring looks. We went and drove an Audi A6 and it was a better car than the BMW in every way. Made me sad to think that if we had gotten the same deal as the BMW it would be in the driveway. Back in the days I would never even consider an Audi or Mercedes. Moving forward, BMW once made me crazy, it was the ultimate driving machine. I don't find this to be true at all anymore, as a matter of fact I think everyone agrees. BMW has lost its touch and it needs to get it back. They once were an exciting company with die hard fans. |

I'm really don't see how Tesla Model 3 sales are having that much of an impact on BMW's bread and butter (yet). If I am not mistaken, priority delivery will be given to those that already own Teslas, and even then we aren't taking into account delays and production constraints in Fremont.
Yes, BMW must get back to the basics, however if the brand will continue to be successful their engineers, designers and marketers must strike a balance appealing to a broader audience. There's a reason why we get softer suspensions and low dust brake pads stateside. I for one hate it, but the ultimate goal here is to get more butts in the seats. Fix the steering, offer folks that want a proper suspension setup an easy way to go about it without forcing pricey option packages down their throats and give the cars a diet and focus a bit more on safety. It's as simple as that.

Scott, you are very positive on SUV sales and the future for them. Can you tell us more about the X3M? Also, in the meantime, will there be an X3 M40i?

There will be a new 3er around or even on sale by the same time Tesla eventually launches the Model 3 around 2018. There are many out there who saw what happened to Fisker and are concerned that with Tesla the rug can be pulled from underneath them. They had a 3er challenger in development and everybody placed deposits on.y to lose out when they went bankrupt.
