Though the second gen model has much more mainstream appeal than the older car, I think Lexus is actually selling the IS to Lexus buyers...people who might otherwise choose an ES or GS, or a C-class. Even the salesman confessed this fact. |

Totally agree ^ drove IS350, G35, and 330i. G35 is the closest any car has gotten to the overall bmw feel. Anyway, I never said anything about the IS350 not being a great car. I was just refferring to this ONE IS owner's behavior and to me it really seemed like he was trying to impress me because I could have bought the IS350 but chose the 330i instead. I mean I can understand with the 3 series being the benchmark and winning every comparo test if I chose the IS i'd probably try to show off it's power, esp. if I saw a 330i. And I think the only reason I would be doing that was because I was self conscious. |

IS owners are probably jealous that their car got beaten in almost every comparing tests. It's pretty funny if u go to IS forums and see their reasons for buying the IS350 other than the 330i to be specific......and their excuses on those comparing tests. But the most common excuse was.....IS350 IS FASTER!!~.......IS350 HAS QUICKER ACCELERATION!!~.......
I beleive reading off of some magazine...said that the 330i beat the IS350 in a racing track...which includes CORNERS and CURVES.....i guess IS's SPEED and QUICK ACCELERATION didn't rreally do much in those corners..... so frustrating after looking at those comments from IS people |

IS must keep go through revolutions until it reaches the point where it starts setting "benchmarks" like the 3 series. This was their second turning point, and quite frankly, I think they did pretty good. Though, the new IS350 feels like its over done to me. Lexus did understand being defensive all the times isn't the best idea, so they tackled this one hard, but still couldn't reach the expectations. but they came pretty damn close. Quote:

Oh well. IS, whatever. #2 is always a #2. No.1 is the only one who gets gold. Gold > Silver. Simple as that.

That color looks like an Arctic wannabe to me. Poor thing doesn't hold a candle
And the childish posts on this thread don't bode well for the future of our board. Non-E90 owners, do not come on this board and try to bash our cars. We don't care. We like our car, you like yours, have a nice day.

I test drove the IS350 before buying my 330. Granted, I've had two previous 3's in the last 8 years, but the new IS design is much improved.
The IS350 is a very fun car to drive. It's extremely quick and very VERY silky. The comfort & electronics (Nav, audio, etc) inside the car are much better than the 3-series. One really nice feature was the air-cooled seats - something that would be great in the summer/warm weather. For me though, it came down to driving. While the IS had tons of power, it really is a car controlling the driver, not a driver controlled car. All feel of the road is eliminated & the car really exhibits body roll in the turns. It is a great car, but my preference is how a 3 drives. I certainly don't look down on IS drivers - they just have a difference preference.

i actually test drove is350 like a month ago... as usuall sales person was knocking down 330 left and right, saying how this is350 is better, so im like ok lets see... so we drive, he floors it and tells me "it has so much power, dont u feel it ? it's so fast" and im sitting and thinking that my e46 330 5 speed feels just as fast... i know it's slower, but it FEELS just as fast from 1-3 gears... overall, i didn't like the car at all, only liked gages... in my opinion is350 got nothing on 330's except more hp...

I agree. Nowadays almost anyone can drive a BMW. Remember even if the 330 is a few grand more , with lease or finance terms today it only means a few more bucks a month. The IS350 and G35 are great because it forces BMW to make a great car greater and also stop ignoring the HP issue. Bimmers used to be faster than the average car in yesteryear but know just about anyone with a Maxima or Honda can show us tail lights without tring too hard. |

I was really on the fence between the 330 and IS350. In the end I think I went with the 330 because it is a family tradition The more I get accustomed with the car though, I am kind of disappointed with the power. In about a month the new V6 Camrys will be smoking us with their 268 HP 3.5L. Maybe I should have waited for the turbo 335, but you know dealers will be asking an arm and a leg for those.

If the IS350 had an AWD option my decision would have been a lot tougher. I drove it and thought it was a pretty fantastic car. Lexus did an excellent job with it despite what you read on this site. But then this is the E90Post ... I would be very surprised to be reading about how wonderful the IS350 is here.
