8-11 when I'm not traveling (although some of those may be doubles or triples).

More when traveling though, as it almost always involves drinks & dinner with co-workers or customers. Hard to do fewer than 3 drinks per evening under those conditions, even though I do try to minimize consumption because of its affect on my sleep.

Single malts for me, which helps keep things low-volume (I'm on Coumadin - requires regularity and heavy drinking can do you in). Good (ok, better) for the body, but the budget takes a real hit compared to my 'quarter-draft-days'.

Do you accomplish things in life now? Why do you think it will change? I have my 3-6 Friday night. Saturday morning I'm out in the yard, taking care of business by 8:00. Then a nice nap before heading out to dinner/drinks again.

Last night, after helping clean the kitchen and fold clothes, I went to the gym for about 1 hr. Came home and poured a nightcap of about 3oz Makers which I sipped while reading my book in bed. Out by 10, up at 4:15, at work by 6:15.

Next week I go back on call for 2 weeks. During that time I might have 1 sake if we get sushi, nothing during the week.

Good for you UncleWede, however, I have been sober since 2003 and I am very proud of the accomplishment. Damn near lost my family. I guarantee I do not have one more drunk in me!

Dave

ps you are absolutely right that it doesn't change

Are we twins? Sounds like my nights/weekends......except for the Makers (Jameson here) and the book (Pubg here). And I wake up later.

I consume a decent amount of alcohol weekly. If you're counting weekends, like a full 7 days id probably say over 20 drinks. I'm 6 ft 1", 240 lbs so I can have 8 beers on a night out and not even have a buzz going.

During the weekdays I would say it's much less but I'll still have a drink or two at home sometimes with the Mrs. after work just to relax and talk about our days. Weekends though at least one day I'm having a few scotches and smoking a cigar or having company, going to a party etc.

Congrats! My brother has tried on multiple occasions to stop, because it does negatively affect his relationships. When he is on the wagon, I don't drink anything on his boat when we go fishing. He gets MEAN when drunk. I just laugh until I get tired and go to bed (9:45 pm)

Being as how all my time is spent with my wife, or hanging out with my car buddies (driving), i dont find myself in a drinking setting anymore. Only time i have a drink nowadays is at special events (wedding, bday party, etc). So my average per week is 0, yearly is under 20. This works out for me, especially since alcoholism runs in the family.

I accomplish stuff, at least I like to think so
I see what you're saying though - it's not interfering with my sober-required life so i should be fine. thanks!

Usually 1-2 beers a night between dinner and getting the kids to bed. Then on the weekends, particularly in warmer months it could be 2-5 during the course of a day.

I didn't want to read through this thread, but now i promise i will read through it all tomorrow. (because I broke, and had many drinks tonight)

I drink a lot on the weekends but "try" to avoid drinking during the standard week, because as an active duty service member in a prestigious leadership position, I have to maintain a specific standard that I refuse to waiver from due to the fact that I wholeheartedly believe in the "lead by example" conditioning I've endured for 16 years.

Normally, I save my drinking for the weekend because I practice many physically demanding training regimens throughout the week. recently, my schedule has changed drastically so hanging out with someone guys who normally are not as free as I am (married guys) vs me (single guy) they want to play where as I dont need special occasions to play, if that makes sense.

Ultimately, moderation is the key. knowing limits and acknowledging when enough is enough is key. understanding that every action has its consequences is important to understanding our decision making process.

what I want everyone and anyone to understand is that the decisions that we make directly impact the reality we endure.

Endure responsibly, my fellow car enthusiasts.

Man... I spoke too soon. But... we're going zombie hunting tonight. We live about a 1/2 mile down the road from a killer paintball place. They do zombie shoots running up to Halloween.

My wife convinced her director to do this as a team-builder, with alcohol, spouses and kids invited... You can bring beer, no bottles... Cooler is packed with good stuff in cans.

Now... If I can just stay up long enough to watch F1 qualifying...
