some of you are retarded
i'm going through the posts and reading how everyone thinks the final product is shitty looking or looks to stock lol. the pics are out of sequence guys go click on the actual article and read it from start to finish.
the project isn't even finished. and for those of you who say it's the wrong engine, ur right, but if you would read the article a bit you'd realize what their trying to do. the car isn't even meant to be driven. it's not going to be sold. it's basically a car built to gain interest in the classic beemers. |

hands down the best plant for an e30 is either the M50/M52 or S52... of course getting 500hp would involve turbocharging, forged internals, modifying compression ... but it would still be easier (and cheaper) than shoving that enormous technological v10 in a light/small car like the e30. respect to the original poster, that is an amazing project and it looks clean as hell. good to know that it can be done although i'm sure there are better ways to get 500hp in an e30 than with the v10. that's quite an interesting way to get rid of the rust as well. |

I would have just re-built it the way it should have been... putting a v10 was quite overkill IMHO, why fuck with something that is already perfect. I guess I'm a bit bias'd on engine swaps, but I do love E30 M3's.... But in this case, they turned it into something not as worthy... My suggestion take the M3 badge's off and put an v10 sticker on it with some NOS decal. .... seriously though the project started out good and I got excited for a second, but then when I saw the V10 and M3 in the same sentence........

I had one of those M3's and I also had a JPS Black series before M3's were even thought of.
The restore of his car or a rebuild what ever is truly spectacular. The work involved is amazing and although I don't agree with a V10 it is something to be admired. For me a rebuild to original would have been a collectors car, I think such a modern motor needs a modern shell. If one was looking for a giant killer then a fully worked original motor supercharged or turbo'd would have out-run the current M3. But it is still a amazing venture and is beyond anything that I could do.

Wow, I can't even imagine the amount of work that went into building that car!
I would have went with a smaller turbo engine (not an N54, how about a turbo S54 instead ), but I guess the V10 is alright for shits and giggles.
