UV light does fade pretty much everything, including tattoo ink. The more UV light, the more fading that will occur. Also something that most people don't consider is age and a person skin cells are constantly being replaced with new one's. Despite UV light, your tattoo is going to fade over time anyway. Get the tattoo. A person should never skip out on something they want due to concerns what will happen later. "I didn't wash my car because it's just going to get dirty again" syndrome. Get the tattoo. It's going to fade regardless. Talk to your local artist and see if he can design what you're looking for. If he can't, go talk to someone who can. |

So, if I can't even visualize the letters in my own head, how is "Yeah, I want my kid's initials over my heart" going to translate into ink? I realize it's a creative process, just not sure how that would work. The Circle was clear as day once my then ex-wife sent me the card. Not sure she had the intention of me applying it to my arm. |

Let's say I get a tattoo on one of my deltoids. Then I start lifting weights and get huge. Would the increase muscle mass stretch the tattoo out?

I will give the answer of yes though, but only from what I've seen happen to womens tattoos placed on their breasts or stomachs before they became pregnant. To the ladies out there that may read this, be careful of tattoo placement. Once that skin stretches, your tattoo most likely will not look the same. |

Yay!! A tattoo thread!!
Im fairly decorated up. I have a sleeve, chest piece, and a few other random tattoos. Most of them are thoughtful ones, I have 2 spur of the moment tattoos. But they were tasteful choices, thankfully. This sleeve nearly got messy as it started out as a half-sleeve, then I decided I wanted a full sleeve. Then, also at the time I left my ex to move back to my home city, so I ended up switching artists part way thru. I found someone who was great and able to finish it, but its way easier to just plan for the whole piece. My spur of the moment tattoos are a shamrock from Ireland, and a tasteful sugar skull in a flower on my other shoulder. I didnt like the bright random colors so its just a black/grey skull with red markings on it. |

Nautical tattoos have means like Russian prison/gang tattoos.. Don't get it if you don't know the meaning behind it.. I don't think someone will take a belt sander or a torch to your tattoo..

Serving in the Navy 24 years, I had a lot of peer pressure to get a tattoo and was certainly interested, but never really saw anything or could think of anything I wanted enough to say I’d like it 30-40 years later or the rest of my life. I’m 57 now and now tattoos are much more mainstream than just for prostitutes and sailors. However, I’m glad I didn’t get a tattoo and now more of a novelty compared to everyone else.

I have managed to avoid the State of Florida Penitentiary system so I have no tats. I sell HVAC and one of my contractors has a head unit of a VRF Mitsu unit on his chest with the condenser on his lower back and a line set connecting them...wild

Figured i'd contribute while i'm in the middle of my biggest piece
I also work in corporate America, but in the creative field so tattooing has never been an issue for me

Told a girl once that the butterfly she had would be a pterodactyl in 30 years. Odd that relationship ended about that time?

A friend of mine that was introduced to me and my gf at the time who moved from
LA to SD was new to SD. This was many yrs ago when I was living out there had one piece on his back - he was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He was pretty big mostly muscle, and fair skin. Anyway, you never would think he had a tattoo - but at the beach with his shirt off, revealed a massive highly detailed and very menacing dark skull. I’m not sure what insight that tattoo provided into the guy, we were in our mid 20’s so 2005. But I can never forget that guy or his tattoo - made a big impression. Another friend of mine is getting his early 20’s tattoos removed from his lower back, claims the pain is extreme. I’d like to get a tattoo but know it will lead to more tattoos and am slightly concerned with my 2 young boys opinions or my example to them…. hmm |

My wife tells the boys "wait until I die before you get a tattoo." Not sure what some of these suggestions about places I "should take mom" are related to
