The G42 may in all likelihood have a longer hood and overhang, but the perspective of the camera shot likely has something to do with it.

I am more interested in the trunk line. It looks raised and more like the 1 series did and less like the flat version on the F87.

Unfortunately, with the 4-series now becoming a mini 8er instead of a sportier 3er, I feel like the 2er is going to become much longer and wider.

Yeah that other dude was using incorrect angles in his comparison. This is more accurate. Surprising how similar the profile of the car is to the outgoing model. There appears to be a bit more rake on the new model but that's likely camera angle once again.

It will certainly cost less, but I hope that doesn't mean downgrades on the inside. I would pay up to M440i prices for an equal car in smaller package. Just don't tell BMW that.

The sides are too flat. The actual car is more athletic in classic BMW stance.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...pecs-revealed/ This 2-series is set to be larger than the outgoing model. The standard 230i (pictured in white) is 4.3 inches longer than its predecessor, it's 2.6 inches wider, and its wheelbase is stretched by 2.0 inches. Front and rear track widths have also increased, by 2.8 inches at the front and 1.9 inches at the rear on the 230i and by 2.5 inches at the front and 2.4 inches at the rear for the more powerful M240i model (pictured in purple). and this.. https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022...t-look-review/ While looking like a modern (and less attractive) take on a classic Bimmer, the new 2 Series is bigger than the car it replaces. Track widths are up for the base 230i models (2.8-inches front, 1.9-inches in the rear) and the M240i xDrive (2.5-inches front, 2.4-inches out back), and the car rides on a two-inch-longer wheelbase than the previous car. That should pay dividends for backseat passengers, as the last 2 Series was cramped if you weren't driving or riding shotgun; as a bonus, the longer wheelbase should strengthen the 2's high speed stability. |
