The X1 is basically Mini Cooper Clubmans with BMW bodies and interiors. I don't see the problem with BMW doing this seeing their direct competition does this as well. Kind of surprised the would make an X1M but I suppose it's also an answer to what MB and Audi offer.

Lol my father got an X1 as a loaner and two days later couldn't stand it, drove straight to the dealer and demanded a better car. They had a 540 M Sport.
The X1 is a total appliance, anybody saying otherwise has probably just driven appliances their entire life and doesn't know any better. The first gen X1 drove like a proper BMW but the current one is a turd.

Very curious to see the magic of M translated into this car. When I read the raving reviews of the Golf VIII R or the AMG 45s, I presume that even FWD biased cars can become splendid driving machines with a proper setup.

I'm picking up my 2nd X1 mpsort tomorrow. Myeaae is up, but inventory and leases suck now, so found a cpo estoril blue with oyster interior, and led headlights. Was hoping for at least a 35i version. This made my day lol. X1 is practical for homeowners and those with kids that need the cargo area.

You should.. it's Dimensions are similar to the 3 series (my 18 is at least) but is a few inches taller, and has cargo room. But length and width were practically the same. I was hoping for this, because it's not big like the x3, and more nimble especially the turning radius. It will be the perfect combo of fun and practicality.

M has their work cut out for them. The M235 was one of the most uninspired BMWs I've ever driven.
The problem was worst at UDE, where you'd squeeze the throttle out of a turn only to wait, wait, wait for the traction control to decide the wheels were straight enough to give you the power you're asking for. If it drives right, kudos for an X1M.

If this is the only way the US gets an m division "wagon" then I'm all for it. Lowered it'll look just like a 3er wagon so bring it on

I don't own BMW shares so I don't care nor am I the target demographic for this car. Call me when they release the M340I ZHP with 6 sp manual.

It's gonna be such a corner carver. And with a nice Akra or FI exhaust setup it'll sound amazing! But personally 400hp isn't quite enough output to justify choosing it over others. If it can get tuned up to 500-510hp without stressing stock hardware I'm in.
