I have a xLine PHEV xDrive25. (Not an MSport one, really X Line)

I have pedal shifters though.

When I pull the gear liver one more time when at D, the car moves to Sport mode.

Is it normal I don't have L mode?

(Also to avoid any strong reaction, I may not need it, asking just out of curiosity)
It’s normal. If you have an M-Sport or paddle shifters, it will be D/S next to your shifter nib on the console instead of D/L

Thank you! That clarifies!!!!! Indeed even though it is an xLine, I added the MSport steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Another one I have always wondered: which configurations have the 10 second "Boost" option on the left paddle shifter?

I haven't played with the boost function, paddle shifters or launch control in a long time... last time I tried it was a few months ago. I'm in my X1 right now and I can't remember how launch control works. Looking up the manual on the phone is not that easy. The paper manual is in the garage at home 300 miles away.

Can you tell me how to do launch control? got a nice stretch of interstate ahead of me... it's actually a country road, but after the red light, it turns into the interstate with 70mph speed limit. It's basically straight for over 2 miles.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I never like how its engine atuo idle stop and start worked. Frequently when light change from red to green, the car does not move when I depress gas pedal all the way down, until about half a second after the pedal is all the way down. People behind me sometimes honk at me but there's nothing I can do if the car engine doesn't kick in and move. Now I learned a trick, which is to keep my eyes on the light from either side for when they change from red to yellow to green. When I see their side is at yellow, I start pressing gas and that allowed engine to get a head start so I can start moving when it changes red to green on my direction.
This is why the UK has a superior traffic light system - lights change from red only to red and amber together before green - so you know to prepare to move off !
