I buy almost all my tires from this place. 4tires.ca With taxes, the promo discount and the mail-in rebate the Continental 02 are almost 25% less than the Michelin ps4s. These are the Continental 02 sizes I bought last year. You can see the difference in the price compared to the Michelin ps4s. Continental 02 all in with the $100.00 mail-in rebate are approx. $1663.00 Michelin ps4s all in with the $70.00 mail-in rebate are approx. $2153.00 https://www.4tires.ca/tires/continen...0-r19-xl/25293 https://www.4tires.ca/tires/continen...5-r19-xl/25302 https://www.4tires.ca/tires/michelin...0-r19-xl/11387 https://www.4tires.ca/tires/michelin...5-r19-xl/11395

Those links with the prices don`t lie. If you add everything up you will see that the Continentals are almost 25% less money than the Michelins.

I guess I'll have to find something in the US.

You should be able to find online tire stores in the US. Google tires for sale online, etc, and see what comes up.
The benefit of buying tires online is the lower price when compared to the cost at the local tire store or car dealership. Their prices are always lower because they don't have the overhead costs of tire shops or dealership. Most online tire stores have free shipping and discount codes, plus a lot of major tire manufacturers have mail-in rebates when you purchase four tires.

All that matters is the all-in cost. Online is cheaper but add shipping and then there's install, balancing and disposal and the tyre places are less likely to cut you a deal. In the end I just didn't find a big enough gap but that was over a yr ago.

The thing about Michelins isn't that they're a huge amount better than their competition; it's that they're a really safe bet for a good tyre in most scenarios. PS4 and now PS5 user here. Wet performance is the deciding factor for me.

Replaced a worn rear PS4S not long ago that had a repair then another nail found it together with cracks forming on the side walls, I replaced it with a spare near new Michelin I bought a year ago online and man did I need it.
If I have problems with cracking on the rest of them then I'll consider Continental which I notice have many types for the 265 to 305 sizes as opposed to the Michelin Ps4 and now this newer PS5 which i'm not keen on. The problem with low mileage cars are tyres that have plenty of tread but the rubber gets older with time and it's more prevalent on performance car compounds. |

The ps5 is going to be the replacement to the ps4 and is a completely different tire to the ps4s. The ps4s is still the better performance tire

I've had 4S on other cars, nice tires but $$$, Currently have a set of Yoko V601s. They were WAAAY cheaper and I've been very pleased with them so far. They definitely far outperform my winter set (michelin PS4 all seasons)

The other factor with $$$ is how long a set lasts you. I do about 3 to 4K KM a yr on mine so they will; age out before they wear out so $100 to $200 more for a set over say 6 years is peanuts tbh. If you're burning through a set in 2 years that is another story.

Looking into tires as of today. No rush. Got a 2021 X5 with 22" OEM Continental tires with 21,277 miles. I don't push it hard and don't drive high speeds.
Unfiortunatly it has the M Sport option with the 22" tires so nothing is inexpensive. If I thought I could get a tire with a lot better ride I might do that but I suspect not. Low profile looks cool but..... you know. Right now seems best answer is Discount Tire offering either original Continentals at about $2000 for all 4. Not currently in stock but heck I probably got another 3K left on these since it doesn't rain often and we don't drive high speeds. Any alternative or recommendations? |

New tires at 35K KM??? That's absurd.
I'd seriously consider downsizing the wheels and opening your tyre options. 22 inches is insane. |

I wouldnt say absurd. Ive owned a few staggered bmws and have gone through several sets of rear tires in around 20k miles (even my 540 treadwear tires). No i dont do burnouts lol. I think the negative camber combined with the inability to rotate tires factors in heavily. I've always figured 20k mi on rears and 50k mi on front for a 540 tire, less for my 280 summer tires lol.

Seeking Tire Recommendations for 2000 Z3
I just bought my first BMW, a 2000 Z3 Roadster and as part of the deal, the owner agreed to pay for four new tires and I'm seeking recommendations.
I bought it to replace my 2003 Miata that I sold, that I only drove about 1,500 miles per year, so I don't need any kind or "racing" or "high end performance" tires, but having said that, I do want "Good Tires". I would welcome any/all suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Black Tonneau Cover for 2000 Z3
I just bought a 2000 Z3 with 63,349 mileage, and it doesn't have a boot cover.
I did some searching and was stunned to see the price of the tonneau cover (over $1,000 new, used ones on Ebay $700)/ Please contact me if you or someone you know has a black tonneau cover in good condition that they want to sell. I'm also interested in a black "soft" boot cover in good condition, but my preference is the tonneau cover. Thank you in advance for your help. |

As to changing wheels I'm pretty sure it would reduce the value of the car by a lot more than the money I would save on tires. That isn't a consideration for me. |
