In the future? Does it have a flux capacitor?
Seriously though, I suspect you probably got one of the last ones with data. I’ve not heard of anyone with a car built after August that has data, whatever the options. |

There was a time when the next model year used to bring enhancements and additions. Now it seems it is the excuse to cost reduce even further. I do t know about everyone else but I’m getting sick and tired of paying more and more and quality/specification getting less!

Coming out of production in early November 2023, I was among the 1st to get a 2024 X1 28i. I was miffed that BMW intentionally removed the glove compartment light, which the vehicle (a 2023) I test drove had, to save them a few dollars. It also lacked the 4 rear tie downs I assumed it would have because I had seen photos of others with them & my 3 previous Acura RDX’s had them a standard equipment. As you stated BMW added nothing but removed features & made no price adjustment to me. After hearing further story’s (like data ports being eliminated mid-year) if I ever plan on another new BMW, I doubt I’ll have it built because I want to see exactly what I’m buying. I just hope there’s a selection close by to chose from, but if not I’ll be looking at another brand. Audi comes to mind. |

I think if you read articles like this you understand why they cutting costs extensively. the car industry in europe, especially germany is bleeding badly because of asian competition.

The European car industry will never be able to fight back by cutting small spec items from models. That only increases annoyance with customers. Penny pinching on the quite, a glove box light here a data connection there will just annoy people, especially when it doesn't match the publicised specs. Plus putting in features that are on a subscription basis (So all the expensive hardware is already there) is just gouging the customer, especially when those features are becoming standrads on less "Luxury" Brands

Sourcing issues, as a result of COVID, was an excuse for adding notice to orders that features may not be available at production time, but their continued omissions, even considered minor, is a turn off. And paying a monthly or yearly fee for features standard on other brands is a huge turnoff at least for me. I think I heard in some areas you have to subscribe to have heated seats. Luckily not allowed in USA. If this is true how can any PREMIUM brand mfr ever consider such a thing when non premium brands do not charge for it. |

BTW, I have a '23 - there were no cargo area tie-downs that year either. The pix you saw were people who added them after the fact. |

Significant cost cutting typically comes from operational/production improvements as well as employee layoffs. Not removing items customers are expecting be included. I see by your high # reputation, you are a long time BMW loyal customer & will defend their strategy. Your entitled to do so. But survival of any company depends on growing customer base & that can’t be accomplished by underwhelming new customers. Just my 2 cents. Last edited by markronnie; 11-14-2024 at 08:51 AM.. |

I've been on Honda, Lexus, Hyundai and Mazda owner forums; same complaints everywhere. Each brand has members who complain about things big and small, and allege they will shop elsewhere. Maybe they do; maybe they don't. I'm willing to bet BMW (as well as most other car companies) have really good market research and know cost cutting measures they can take that will not have a material impact on sales. You don't have to like it...it's just the way it is. |

But people these days are a little more tech savy. So at least BMW
should have mentioned that they removed the USB data ports and they are only USB power ports. I looked at the diff between 2024 and 2025 X1 and that item was not on there. Even my very knowledgeable sales person did not know that. |

I don't understand the logic - then they should've bundled it with the highest dollar package if they were going to be cunts for the money - then at least we would have an option if we dearly wanted it and would paid to get it. As it is I'm all but assured the 2 i ordered wont have it even though their marketing material to date stull says it has it
