So yea mine finally finished after the usual drive to charge the battery, then let the engine cool down then wait some more then drive some then wait some more then drive some more then wait…

I’m also in the I see no difference camp which I guess isn’t all bad, if it’s just bug fixes and performance improvements… what I needed to reset was minimal
Center screen forgot my preferences, so I changed back to map and like every update before the cockpit brightness at night back to 100% so had to adjust that and when I tapped the mic button the first time it had to re download English but I didn’t have to reset any personal assistant once that finished.

I’m still confused why they say eSIM is improved yet it still shows this vehicle isn’t compatible
edit - playing around on the app and for the first time it shows compatible for eSIM! that's new... but my carrier isn't on here

I’m so disappointed I didnt get the efficient mode by default option in my 2025 x1! Was looking forward to one less click each time I drive with it on. Already have to click auto stop each time

Who ever these technicians are the develop the upgrades need training, I mean you have to drive the car to get the download, then drive the car to install it and then cant drive the car while its installing and then see no new or better inhancments just lost options.

well i know when the dealer had the car on 4/22 and 4/23 for the 2nd year service and the integrated brake recall as it went to 3/2025.38, the 'auto brake hold' has a mind of its own now as to when it will turn on... funny, i cannot find a routine as to why at times it activates on its own when i turn on the ignition and sometimes it does not ...

My M240i has Idrive 8 and I have not seen an update for over a year. I like the way I have it set up now and I dont want to run the risk of an update ruining it.

BMW probably hired some low level non logical software devs that never driven a bmw.

I didn't need to drive around. I put mine in park and set the phone to never lock the screen and the update install proceeded

I was impatient and tried to hurry mine along - my wife let hers do the auto-update through the phone app schedule, and she got hers done last night (well early this am I guess) - so it only took one more day. I think maybe next time I might try to wait it out and let the auto-update handle it. As for settings she needed to update, same download of English language pack and cockpit nighttime brightness but it did not forget her center screen pref.

edit - she told me later her center screen did reset too

Downloaded and installed last night.

Didn’t really notice any “loss” or “gain” of features.

Nothing really noticeable for me.
Had to reset gauge cluster settings.
Remote start was enabled.
Every other setting was as left.

I did notice that the MPG has gone back to a more conservative estimate (previous update got me above 400+miles/tank) but post this update I noticed it barely goes above 400 on the same fill (I get gas on the same day each week)

I did have a lot of comfort access issues (main door, rear gate kick sensor didn’t work sporadically) with previous update so I hope that fixes that.

Otherwise no noticeable changes that I can tell.

I Never start in efficient mode so I wouldn’t know if it allows me to start in that mode.

I took this update and wish to god I could roll back...

The only change I've noticed is that one of my favorite things about the car has been killed... the ability to leave Auto Hold on in perpetuity.. it no longer persists between drives, meaning I have to enable it every time the car shuts itself off.

I can't believe they did this.

It’s a real shame there’s no place to report bugs in the software. I read somewhere that even the dealers don’t have this ability.

Absolutely bonkers.

The app has a feedback facility (for itself), but nothing for the car!

Maybe I’ll try that and say “please pass this on to the idrive devs”.

You can fix the auto-hold issue - make sure set parking break automatically (in drivetrain) is switched ‘on’

So I am now having an issue that wasn’t happening before the update - my door isn’t unlocking when I touch the handle (I don’t use lock/unlock on approach and I don’t use the key fob). I toggled the settings and rebooted the iDrive. The “interesting” thing is that it seems to be problematic on the drivers side door (the car is LHD), but it works fine on the passenger side.

That kinda led me to wonder if it’s something in the update that is getting cranky/confused because I have the digital key on my Apple Watch and iPhone and both had passive entry enabled. FWIW, this hasn’t been an issue at all in the 2.5 months since I got the car (this was my 2nd update) until I installed this update. So, my thinking is that when I am approaching the driver’s side door from the rear of the car, I would likely grab the handle with my left hand (the one with the watch on it); however, when I approach the car from the passenger side, I grab the door handle with my right hand.

To test my theory, I had my husband take my phone out to the car and see if he had any issues. The touch lock/unlock worked perfectly for him. I disabled passive entry on my watch, so I will hope for the best tomorrow.

Hah, good one 😂 I am more concerned about the ability to turn on Efficient mode as a default one. I though that only the newest cars getting that, but now it seems that some folks with 2025 cars are also missing it still.
So, there is still some hope that my idrive9 from late 2023 also get this.

My car is also late 2023, but I have the efficient mode option. I think its only for the electric version iX1.
