For me, it was told that the site would remain in tact, and we should uphold our standard method of moderating (which we did). With the meld of the two sites, it didn't seem possible to keep the same "feel" of the old 1addicts alive, as there are very different moderating styles between the two sites, which caused infractions where e90post members are not used to seeing them, and very "non-1addicts-like" posts in 1addicts forums. Post whoring was really cracked down on at 1addicts too, but not really cared about in bimmerpost forums.

Still, we were told to continued to run it as the old 1addicts. It became apparent to me that it just was not possible, and the sites (for better of worse) have a very different feel, and with merged areas and splash-over posts, it was impossible to moderate 1addicts in any manner close to what we were used to, without causing problems. I saw things change rapidly and just did not want to be part of getting told to do things one way, when it's not what the bimmerpost people are used to seeing. If we "let up" and be less intrusive, it caused problematic "splash-over" posts that 1addicts would never have normally seen. Lose-lose situation. Nobody came out and said this, but it came down to: either we let 1addicts change to turn into a bimmerpost-like "feel", or cause a major rift with our carried-over moderating norm.

So, to be able to continue moderating, I came to the conclusion that I would have to greatly change how I viewed the postings, and I told the Admins that I dont know that I can learn to do that, and respectfully asked to have my additional access stripped.

As far as the "gone" goes, I've posted here since I returned to being a regular contributor...

Peace.

explain yourself. i've tried all of them but remain a regular poster here because IMHO bimmerpost is the best of all of them. bimmerforums, m3forum.net, and e46fanatics are chock full of kids that bicker about stupid shit when they don't even have drivers licenses. and swearing? can you not handle a couple naughty words? not that i curse like a sailor, but i like being able to say certain words without the banhammer slamming down on me. when the merge happened, a lot of regular posters that were already here for long periods of time with thousands of posts were getting infractions/bans for absolutely asinine reasons...most of them came from 1addicts mods. i personally think the mods and admins that run bimmerpost do an excellent job at keeping things on track, but not run it like a concentration camp. nothing against the 1addicts mods, but things were working great before they came along, then things got really hairy for a while, now it seems like things are leveling back off. for better or worse, it's how things are, carry on and enjoy some extra liberties.

i think the main difference between 1addicts and e90post is the amount of flaming that goes on here.

someone could show up with plastic hub caps on his car and ask how much boost his 128i was pushing and he wouldnt get reemed for it.
if the same thing happened here its be a feeding frenzy haha.

oh well, i like it over here (especially the new found off-topic section haha)
i just miss some of the guys that have disappeared since the merger

you pointed out a lot of reasons I do not like bimmerpost or m3forum or e46fanatics, bimmerfest, and you pretty much posted exactly what I would as to why I liked 1addicts. In fact, of those 4 forums I listed, I visited them only if a google search took me there, a quick browse of the forums ensured I don't go read posts there.

swearing in threads is done because people are too stupid to handle a normal conversation, the occasional swearing is fine though.

I would be curious what the average age was on 1addicts, I suspect it was quite a bit older

1addicts was working great before bimmerpost took it over

How about posting nude pictures in topics not labeled NSFW? Or posting nudity at all, since the forum rules prohibit that? Not that I hate boobies, but I hate clicking on a link that has been hijacked with pornography at work. There was just one in the OT forum. I would report it, but I am not going to that link again until I get home.

And that is just one example. The amount of trolling on the OT boards is ridiculous. It may be that the people there stay there, but I really have doubts that 3 months from now those very same people will not be trolling the 1er specific boards.

I will agree that the mantra "I liked things the way they were" is cliche at best, but to be perfectly honest: why did this merger have to happen? The services being provided were spectacular and the forums browsed well and overall it was a pleasant experience on that board. Now I can't click on any OT links at work, and the threat of those trolls invading the boards I have been posting on for a year is making me think we might have to part ways soon.

I dont really feel any changes. Our new england section wont do anything but grow from this and I am happy about that. I already see more events posted on there. and car of the month is cool, but why does silverbullet have to win everything?

I have been away too. Why? Hmmm I didn't like bickering but in the end... Why can't we still be 1addicts? If we were all in school again (thank gawd that won’t happen), and for some reason we all finished grade 8 and went on to High School would we all not be the same people? So I plan to stay as a Pirate 1addict, but I am also have added “1addicts, and proud”, like guardianangel3290 did.

Why because I am proud where I came from. I am really going to miss the mods, and I really hope they decide to just stick around and be regular just like the rest of us. It wasn't that they were title that made them special, it was their kindness and great posts. I think it takes some swallowing pride to stick around, even though some differences are there.

I can handle the badmouthing, swearing, put downs, but what I can't handle is smoking when I have to walk through the front doors. Fortunately that can't happen in a forum so I say...

"May the Force be with you!"

Remember to add 1addict, and proud to your Custom User Title in Edit Your Details.

larryn I also want to thank you for your post. That was nice of you. (Explaining what happened to yourself and the other mods) I hope the mods who left will either sign up with a new nick or just follow larryn and continue to post (Most of the mods posts were great) So what if there are some ID-ten-Ts (ID10Ts) they can be ignored. After all how can we go wrong, Yoda is still here. Find a good AVATAR to protect you, and to remind you that the fun is not gone!

BTW is there a list of rules that the mods stick to? If so where is that posted?
