i grew up in beverly hills, my mom has money, almost every "kid" i know has cars that most ppl dream about, i don't think it should be held against him that he was dealt a different hand of cards than others..nobody here knows him personally so you don't know the circumstances, he might appreciate that car more than anything & maybe he does work for it..

yes, he made a mistake by driving it on GMR when he clearly isn't experienced but again, we've all made mistakes..he should learn from it & be more cautious
i think i should of been more clear in my response

i dont care what he drives, he could of wrecked a civic and i would of felt the same, great for him that he has that car..

i say he shouldnt of been there because

1. he doesnt know how to control the car.
2. he could of hurt others in the process of his wreckless driving.
3. just because you go canyoning doesnt mean automatically drive like an idiot.

I don't think it's about him being wealthy. I think it's about him endangering others. If he really sucks that bad at driving, he shouldn't be trying to tackle that run at 100% in a GT-R no matter how much the car drives itself. The fact that he almost lost it several times prior to that should have been enough to clue him into the fact that he was in over his head. Because of revised safety standards, these people don't off themselves in accidents at the rate they used to. On the other hand, those same safety standards save innocents who are caught in the path of such morons.... It's a double-edged sword....

We could not care less how wealthy his parents are. Many here are from M3Post who could have bought a GTR if wanted, but chose to get the M3 for one reason or another.
No we are pissed because we ALL pay for his mistakes, via higher insurance premiums. Who do you think end up paying for a new car?
There are huge differences between going a little quick on a wide open highway, and going balls-out in a curvey mountain road at night.

At least it was an improvement on the looks of the car (after the crash)

There are some 20 year olds who can handle that car - he wasn't one of them.

Chances are you are right. Parents of those are more like than not to splurge on their kids.

And where do you think the insurance recoup their loss, from you. No way that kid has even paid a year worth of insurance on the car yet to be even close to cover the cost of the car. Insurance work by reallocating premium from safe driver to the fewer, reckless, driver. If everyone is a safe driver our premium would be a lot lower, so it's not a free lunch. His misfortune or fortune is on us. He has the last laugh. Hell he's not even paying his own insurance.

Quite obvious his parents aren't drivers as well. If they were they would not buy an inexperience driver with such a beast so early in his driving career.

The lead car was crossing lanes as well.

Kids don't realize how stupid they are until something bad happens.

I wonder how often this $hit goes on. Amazing. See you canyon-driving pricks at the track.

Running the hill at night is actually SAFER than during the day.. At least at night you have the chance of catching on comming headlights, so you have SOME warning of things comming the oppisite direction....

Not so much during the day..

What this comes down to is, we've ALL done stupid things, this TOOL just happened to get it on video...

I had something similar happen to me, well, to the guy in front of me...

We were doing the canyons in VT...

Guy in front of me (I was in back with the camera pointed forward) Went left over a crest and right at the peak of the crest, which also happened to be the apex of the turn, he tapped his brakes...

Yeah, I use to have it all on video...

Stupid happens, more and more everyday..

How about... NOT crossing into oncoming traffic?

Someone should forward this video to the kid's insurance company so they can deny the claim. Don't insurance policies have some kind of clause excluding dangerous driving?

If his insurance company knows what it's doing, it should deny the claim based on the location and time of the incident. GMR is pretty much a racetrack, and most insurance coverage stops right at the gate of tracks.

Thumbs down

Whoa, where did all the sympathy police come from?

He's 20, and driving a twin turbo monster balls out on a twisty canyon road at NIGHT.

You think his parents made a good decision? Really sympathy police?

as i completely agree with you that crossing lanes is dangerous & stupid, no matter where you do it, i have to say that in the middle of the night on GMR, you can DEFINITELY see on coming head lights from pretty far away, this isn't as dangeous in terms of hitting an on-coming vehicle as you're all making it out to be

sympathizing, maybe, but i'd like to think of it more as the devils advocate, everybody tends to take one side without looking at ALL the facts & just agrees with the person before them wrote w/out having a real thought of their own..

if you were 20 & your parents said "hey little johnny, we just got you a new car & it's outside, it's a nissan GT-R", i'm pretty sure you wouldn't say "no mother & father, that car probably isn't safe for me as i'm not an experienced enough driver yet, maybe in some time or after i take some performance driving lessons"

If there is NO traffic, is there oncomming traffic?

I can't remember, did they pass any cars? If they did, were they on the wrong side of the road when they passed (obviously not or things would have gone far worse)

I'm not here to argue, but if you are "racing" down a hill, wouldn't you be taking a racing line??? I know I would be...
