So are they replacing all pumps even if the car does not have symptoms? If not, I don't see how this "recall" is any different than what is currently going on.

It's about time...you would think company like BMW would've got bottom of this long before the bad publicity. BMW failed on this one.

That is a half-assed press release if you ask me.
They didn't address the N55 (same pump) or the iS N54 (same pump). The release also doesn't explain if everyone with those mentioned models gets a new pump or if there is some sort of scaled approach. And it is totally ridiculous to know of the problem for over three years and allow a TV show to prompt you to take action....amazing....

Unless they have a completely redesigned pump, this is pointless....
Seems to be a CYA ironically timed when they are about to be exposed on national tv. Lawyers are behind this, no doubt.

Hmm... very interesting. 22k+ miles and my car has started exhibiting long cranks, engine surge on startup, etc... time to call the dealer it seems.

Probably just a software fix that makes your car slow.
I wonder if people with Dinan tunes are screwed since our cars use different software? Any thoughts? And should I take my car in if it is not having symptoms? I already had my pump replaced at 1,000 miles. |

i really don't know how to feel. on the one hand, it's like "ok. great. the problem is out there and now everyone knows about it."
but on the other it's "BFD. it's not like they are issuing a new pump. they're just replacing it with the same old garbage." and now i can't help but think that i'm financing a car that has a recall on it, and the problem is far from fixed.

For what it's worth, my fuel pump went out September 22nd (over a month ago), and was replaced with this 933 HPFP. I also got the software update.

On a side-note, I love the customer who bought his 25 yearly daughter a 335i......total fail. Complete and total fail. How about she buys the car she can afford? There is a novel idea. This country is great.......just love the work ethic that is being bred here. No wonder the rest of the world is kicking our asses all overt the street......
Cheers, e46e92

Oh, and this is not unsafe at all. Give me a break about the "I was scared" crap. I owned one of the first 335is in the country, build date of June '06, and I had a failure while on the highway and I was never "scared". It simply went into limp mode, I pulled into the right lane and got home slowly but safely.
Love this drama crap.... Cheers, e46e92

Pardon me for my ignorance but what should an owner expect? Never been a part of a voluntary recall before. They just send you a letter saying you can go get this fixed if you want? Is it regardless of your warranty status/mods?
