Sounds like it works similarly to those older rice cookers. Especially if the rice still looks wet, that's a sign of undercooked rice. You will need to keep the lid closed for an extra 15 minutes or so.

Dude get the 4 cup tayama rice cooker @ 99. It's 20 bucks and works like a charm super fast. 600$ that's fer blowin smoke up ur ass.

Actually u can cook just about any kinda rice using a standard pot with a lid. Seen the wife do this a million times before I bought that POS tayama. Just gotta watch it so u dont burn n crust the bottom. All a rice cooker does is heat the water and has internal timer. Boil that shit in a pot and it's a done deal.
