You are aware that a 1 series and a 3 series (E8x and E9x obviously) share 75% of their parts? Its all the same. So do you consider the 3 to be entry level? If the 1 series is - and a 3 series is simply a 1 series with a stretched wheelbase and different skin (and visa versa) - then logic would dictate that you think the 3 is entry level. I for one think you should have more faith in the company. As 1er quality is on par with 3er quality and everything else down the line. And since you do think that the 3 is entry level - isnt it frustrating when somebody doesnt read your post fully before replying? but since you think that the 3 series is entry level. And a 5 series is just a 3 series with a nicer interior. do you also think that the 5 is entry level? Also since an X3 rides on a 3 series chassis is it also entry level? What you fail to realize is that all auto manufacturers share equipement between models. All BMWs run on the same running gear - have the same infotainment systems - some even share the same seats. My 1er has more in common with a 5 series than it doesnt. So when you argue "what would you expect from an entry level car" I respond with what you expect from ANY bmw - because mechanically theyre all almost identical. That was a roundabout way to refute your logic and make you look silly. But I think it works. Have fun with your day. And please STFU - this threads been soiled enough already. But thanks for the challenge. Bye! |

Didnt mean to offend huh? So first in this paragraph you say that you need to spend more than 70K to get something good. Then you say you think the 1 series is a "fine car" As doctor evil would say - Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So you think the M3 is a crap car then too? It only starts at 55K and you think the 1M is a crap car - which started at 47K. And you think a Porsche Cayman R is a crap car - that one started at 65K. How about a Miata? <- generally considered to be one of the finest sports cars in existance How about a Lotus Elise or Exige? Why dont you get out of this thread you trustfund jaggof. Leave the real conversations to those of us who realize that quality isnt indicative of price. Or that what you spend on a car doesnt make a damned but of difference in how much fun you can have with it. |

Broken and you call me a troll, yet I never said the 1 series is bad. All I said was that people complain about entry level cars which I don't understand what they expected from it. No point in talking with you anymore, you're just ignorant.

You are silly if you think that im not an online tough guy. If you started giving me crap and belittling me about a substantial purchase that I made to my face. Id call you out on it anyway. So do you want to try again? Because ill knock your logic out every day of the week. Which is all you have when were go about this on the internet. Also you have the option to see me in person. I work in Brooklyn - MetroTech to be more precise. So if you want to come down and trash talk to my face so be it. But youll get the same response that youre getting now. And seriously, how did you think this would go over for you? You come into the 1 series section and start belittling our purchase and our highly loved cars? Did you honestly think that we wouldnt call you out on it? Because if you didnt youre pretty damned silly - and you definitely arent worth anymore of my time. So about those Volvos we were talking about earlier... |

Also please find me that brand new 55k M3 I want to buy one for myself. Thanks. It's obvious you're not very bright, this section is the general universal forums, nothing to do with the 1 series MR logic. The OP belittled your 1 series not me you dumbass, I actually defended the car. Keep typing Bs, you sound more stupid with every post.

I almost forgot what I was going to write while reading these awsome responses about online tough guys...
Anyway, I drove about a 1000 miles in a 2012 S60 2.0T last week and have nothing but good things to say about it. It's got everything you want from a DD (maybe except the performance) and the V60 with the R-design package looks absolutely amazing imo. |

No OP said his car was unreliable - thats not indicative of the car as a whole and every once in a while theres a bad egg. My car was one of those but I chose to stick it out and fix it. OP had a bad car - some people do and thats not insulting to me. You calling my 50K car cheap and entry level is what insulted me. You used entry level in a negative context - you used it to belittle 1 series owners. And that isnt right. No then. Ive got something better than deal with you now. And hey - it involves driving my very awesome car. And no - the car doesnt make me look silly. Bye! |

Good luck to the OP.
Hard to believe he thinks of himself as an enthusiast. What defines an enthusiast? I think its all about the driving. Maybe the Volvo isn't a bad car. I just don't think its as fun a car as the 135. Seems like he's rolling over and giving up. Maybe just giving in to in-law pressure. That's why I said grow some 'nads and get a car. Hey Giantszero, I'll put my steptronic entry-level 135 on the line against you in an entry-level manual shift Ferrari any day. .

Is this the new thing, have to be an idiot to drive a 1 series? Are you seriously talking about beating a Ferrari with your 135 roflmao, that is the funniest thing I read all day, thanks.

Man that was a fun drive. And lol that this thread is still going on and that this guy is still fishing out the insults.
Just do us all a favor and sod off will ya? Anyway, I remembered a story on it that pertains to the thread. I go up to Maine with a friend of mine some weekends during the summer. He takes up his dads 09 V70 and I take the 1er. There are a few unmonitored stretches of road where we push up to 130 when it's safe. And I'm honestly surprise how quick it is to get up to those speeds. And it's stable as hell too, Have fun with the Volvo OP - I hope the entertainment in this thread suited well a a goodbye gift |

I heard a jeep beat your X5M at the track. Oh, sorry. I thought we were degenerating into petty and irrelevant insults now. Seriously, you think that you need to spend $70K to find a good car? What weird world do you live on? Does the Dakota (or whatever) leather on our "lower" BMW models not conform to your ass just the right way? Congrats, you have a lot of money. We're not talking about beater Civics here, I think you're pretty safe choosing any luxury car line. The rest is just nit picking. Anyone who can even afford a C250 or 328i is already richer than 95+% of the world. Volvos are good cars. Not as fun as a BMW, but you have your S4. You'll enjoy your purchase. The 1 series is great but not for everyone.
