I think its a bit over the top...

Wouldn't all of this stuff in a HUD be more helpful?

I've heard you lose the heated steering wheel if you get this, which made it a no-go for me.

I both drag and autocross my 335, and the information is useful for sure, but it looks over the top. I'd rather have the info on a HUD.

Yes i agree with to have race info on the HUD that would be awesome.
And would be good to be customizable to show what you want and not be distracting.

The g-force might be interesting but never on the steering wheel since it's rarely directly up in a corner. Anything on the wheel that's not always usable when the wheel is directly up is a terrible idea. Drag times and are about it. Forget the wheel and put things in the instrument cluster or iDrive I'd say.

It would be cool if the timers would use GPS to time laps ,sections and diffrent distances(as 1/4 mile),speed,G-forces etc and BMW could integrate that in the navigation display.
And additions to that show diffrent temperatures, pressures etc.
The Nissan GTR have something similar to that although i don't know how it measures lap times and such.

But i guess they need a much more accurate GPS unit like a Racelogic or Race technology for it to be really usefull but it would be cool if they make it standard or an option especially for the next M3/M4.
The 1/4 mile timer works when u start driving to when it reaches 1/4 mile distance.
