My first time driving a BMW was a friend's 2005 (I think) Z4 2.5i. I never spent too much time with it nor did I ever push it that hard, but the smoothness was definitely noticeable. This was back when the car was pretty much brand new.
My first BMW that I can call mine is my current car (pictured in my signature), a 2009 BMW 328i xDrive. This car has me so sold on the refined driving experience that a BMW can provide, but as many others have said, the F30 lacks in a few key areas that actually has me concerned going forward as far as the overall driving experiences goes. The steering feel, the NA inline 6, the balance, all excellent. I'll be upset to see that NA inline 6 go years later. I'm not sure if I can see myself driving anything else besides a BMW ever again. Here's hoping some of the common gripes about the F30 are "fixed" in future iterations, or else I might consider something else (otherwise future cars would be BMWs by default). It'd be a real shame to be sold on the brand and then leave after having had the opportunity to own just one car from BMW.

Your first bimmer was beautiful. Mine is my first car: e90 330xi. First BMW my family owned was a 325ci (father's mid life crisis car lol) I guess he wanted one because he used to have a BMW 2002. After the 325ci I convinced my dad to get a E70 X5 3.0si. We sold our Ford then got our 330xi. Now we're in the process of selling the X5 and getting a m-sport E39 540i 6spd.

My first is a 2000 E46 323Ci in blue metallic paint loaded with options. I loved that car.
The best part, my friend sold it to when it was 6 years old for $4000, I drove it for another 3 years and sold it for $6000

My first was a 2000 ZMCoupe (s 50, when I lied in London). My second was a 2008 Z4 MCoupe, which I got when I emigrated to Seattle. I consider myself very fortunate.

my first bmw was a 1992 E36 325 coupe. I saved up all my money and bought it cash. I'll never forget that car...thats why I will always have a soft spot for the E36 models.

My first BMW was a 1995 325i that I bought new. It was the second car I had and was a real step up from my Pontiac that I had before. Because of that it made more of an impression on me than any other car I have owned since. It was such an incredible feeling driving that car after the old Pontiac!
My current cars are a 2013 335i msport and a 2008 135i msport convertible. While I like driving them, I still remember the feeling of driving my first BMW. |
