None of them have gotten as far into the playoffs as Kaep has in the same amount of time. As far as a lack of game film, the same argument can be used for any qb in their first year. It's too early to make judgement on kaep. Let's not forget Rodgers sat behind Favre for a few years before he started. He was learning that entire time.

I respect your natural inclination to defend the starting QB of your home team, but the key to the 49ers' 3 straight NFC championship games is not because of Kaepernick. He's never even had a game winning drive in his young NFL career. The 49ers usually either pull off a win by way of a defensive stop or a FG kick (Akers and Dawson)

Several NFL expert analysts can't be wrong about Kaepernick's inability to be a winning QB.

I could keep on going, but I hope you get the idea. The bottom line is that it only takes a few games to determine whether the kid's got it or not. I can only wish the 49ers don't ride him for 8 seasons like they did with Alex Smith. It's clear that he's not the answer now, and I would hate to waste another season just to try to see if he can turn things around.

Cuz it's a team game and we had no O-line. Let's not forget that Rodgers didn't have to learn on the job. He got to sit behind a HOF and learn.

dude you just don't get it do you? You guys could've easily been blown out had we capitalized on all your fumbles and scored in the endzone. The game evened itself out. That call would not have determined the game, regardless. Your D wasn't as sharp, and neither was your offense. And special teams was never a factor for you guys either. All 3 phases of the game was complete by the seahawks.

Overall, a good season for the Niners. Yeah it was a tough loss but not unexpected when facing a very good team that has a significant home field advantage and was built to beat them. I'm hoping Levi's Stadium can become a similar home for the 49ers next year.

Although I'm disappointed with the way the season ended, I really enjoy the offseason "chess" of rebuilding the team with new players.

The way I see it, the 49ers needs are:

Wide Receiver - I'd love them to go after Josh Gordon or someone like him. Crabtree, Boldin, and Patton are not deep threats at all. Boldin is a free agent too.

Cornerback - Brown and Brock are ok but the unit could use an upgrade.

Safety - Donte Whitner is a free agent and I wouldn't be surprised if he left. He's a liability in coverage anyway and the refs flag him every time he hits someone too hard, legal hit or not.

Defensive Line - Justin Smith can't go on forever and Seattle exposed a weakness - they were pushed back off the line of scrimmage quite often on run plays.

Kicker - either keep Dawson for field goals/extra points and get a kickoff specialist or get a kicker that can kick field goals and touchbacks. Opposing teams had too many opportunities for returns.

Quarterback Guru Coach - I'm worried Kaepernick has hit his ceiling, development-wise. He really has no excuses since he has a great o-line, a running game, decent receivers, and a good defense.

we have to keep boldin at least one more year, he was too clutch this year to get rid of.

i think brown and brock are ok at cb, rogers is a liability. Culliver was out all year with the ACL i think he will be ok taking rogers spot.

we need either a wes welker type in the slot who could be kaps safety blanket or a deep threat who can stretch the field constantly.

D line should be ok even if J smith leaves. Tank carradine is coming back and from what ive heard about him hes equally as strong as J smith. Keep dawson he was amazing this year.

IDK about a qb guru. Harbaugh is considered to be one of those, i just think we need to get a bit more creative in the playbook (wheel routes, screens, and install a lot more of the read option) Kap hasnt hit his ceiling, if we played against anyone else he would have had over 400 yards easy. Hes a huge mismatch when he uses his legs because of the ground he can cover in just a few strides

I think Kaep had a great year, especially leading up to the playoffs. He played welll. However he does have a lot to work on, with his progressions, staying in the pocket, not forcing throws, etc.

I think if he were really wanting to improve, he would reach out to someone like maybe Joe Montana or Steve Young and get more feedback, face to face, whatever. I mean he can make it happen, will he want to?

I have high hopes that 2014 will be a better year for him and we will see a new and improved Kaep.

Niners had a great year. As a Hawks fan, it isn't always easy to share the division with so many other great players and teams (Jesus, we should all be afraid of AZ next year, and STL is coming up too...Ugh) but I'm sure glad these two teams play each other so hard and represent the West. Remember the "NFC Worst"? Those years SUCKED for all of us.

I hope these two teams stay near the top for a very long time. It's a really fun rivarly and is good for Football. I hope Bowman has a speedy recovery and is 100% next year. I will personally bitch slap the fans who disrespected him last night, if I'm given the chance.

Haile2066 I hear what you're saying. I know it sounds like I'm complaining (and many other 49er fans too), but keep in mind, we're very spoiled when it comes to quarterbacks (Montana, Young, even Garcia to an extent). Put Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady etc. with the 49ers o-line, receivers, running game and defense and it would be hard to argue that they would most likely be better. I want as much as anyone for Kaepernick to improve and become a quarterback that can throw as well as he runs. I just can't see them winning another Super Bowl if he remains a one read, inconsistently accurate, running quarterback capable of big plays but mistake prone.

As for Iupati, his contribution to the offensive line has been very important all year and the 49ers 8 game win streak (before yesterday's game) had a lot to do with him coming back to give Kap the protection he needed in the O-line because Kap takes so much f*cking time to read the defense and to throw the ball. When he went out after getting his leg turned under him, Kap had less time to throw and the Hawks rush started to give him more problems.

The BIG difference that I noticed about Manning vs. Kap (when I watched the AFC Championship game) is that Manning ALWAYs seems to have at least 10 secs after he gets to the line to analyze the defense and shout out his audibles (many of which are just nonsense) and he ALWAYS has at least 6 secs before he goes in to the actual count to hike the ball. Kap NEVER has that much time to assess the defense and, if he's changing up the play, often only has a sec or 2 before he gets the ball from the center AND often fails to pay attention to the clock and gets a delay of game penalty as a result. So, poor time management is another of his problems.

Not saying that Kap didn't make a great contribution to the 49ers generally success this year but, if he were better in defensive assessment, pass selection and time management, he would obviously be better. The 2 INTs are a case in point. The 1st one was clearly on Kap; never should have thrown that ball w/a defender clearly in front of Boldin. The 2nd one (which "lost" the game) was also on Kap; throwing into double coverage in the end zone. Yea, if Crabtree made a "great" catch, Kap and CT would have been heroes BUT he was double covered and it was only 1st down-- better to tuck the ball and run or just throw the ball away and try again on 2nd down, or 3rd or 4th.

Not jumping into this debate but it was a bad call. Agree, clearly Bowman had possession of the ball as he fell to/lay on the ground. But if my memory serves me right, Seattle did not score on that possession. The Seahawks fumbled on the next play and that was recovered by SF...

I'm not doubting what either of those players brought to the niners this year. But i'm still waiting for that idiot who called me jackass to explain to me how these two injuries allowed the seahawks to win................



and i'd honestly be shocked if the niners dont resign boldin.
