Yea, on there and corvetteforum you'll get various opinions on what's the best route. SC seems to be the best way to go for most but you can get some crazy TT setups for it and be pushing the 1000 HP range.

Even at bone stock though you got one crazy fast ride.

In the end, I'm an enthisiast. I liked this board, and want to continue, even though my 335 i is gone (for now). When the mods are better, especially with respect to traction, I would be back in a second.
Good point. The 3-series and other cars that get mentioned alot on this forum(M3, RS4, Vettes, 997's, etc.) are "performance" oriented cars. Once you get past the 3-series with BMW, M's not withstanding, it gets more about luxury and class and performance is the thing that gets sacrificed to a certain degree.

I do know alot of enthusiasts who go through cars on a regular basis, some because they made a mistake, some because they just wanted to own everything cool at some point. I had my M3 for less than a year when I bought the Vette and to be honest, if I could find a really great deal on a 997 turbo, I'd probably trade the Vette for it tomorrow. The Vette really spoils you when it comes to moving up to faster cars, I paid about 50K for mine between the car and mods and to get something faster I'm going to have to spend wwwaaayyy more than that.

+1,000 The 997 turbo is by far the best all around performing car I have ever driven. It makes mediocre drivers look like pros, is simple to mod (eg. evolution motorsports, promotive, or upsolute.com if you want to keep the cost down), and gives a sense of roadhandling and security at the limits that no other car offers for less than $175 K.

Only problem is the cost to purchase and cost to maintain. Add cost into the equation, and the Vette is at the top of most any list.

Sooo, will my 2008 335i coupe, sport, 6mt, stay with my friends 2008 vette, cov't, 6mt? (no Z51)

1. In a straight line?
2. On a twistie road?

He has his car, mine will be here next week.

By the way, we are old dudes, who waited a lifetime to get these two machines.

1. In a straight line? No (even as a vert it's still a 4.1-4.2 sec. car 0-60), the 08's are 430+ HP, the vert only weighs about 50 lbs. more than the coupe and the 6mt. coupe has been clocked at a 4 flat 0-60.
2. On a twistie road? No (even without Z51 it's still a beast in the twisties)

A stock 08 Corvette will smoke a stock 335 in any arena unless he is a terrible driver, then all bets are off.

I thought that was just a known fact about the E55. I mean ill admit it's a fast car, but I keep seeing more and more of them frequently now since it is a discontunued model and many people buy them used.

I have seen brand new C5's in trailer parks back in the 90's. Sorry if that bothers you guys, but it's the way it is. Every hillbilly's dream is a corvette. I choose not to be associated with a crowd that prefers cowboy hats to baseball hats

You must not get out much because that's one of the most ignorant statements I've read on this forum. That's big mountain to climb so you should be proud.

Back in the 80's I saw alot of BMW owners wearing pink sweaters, penny loafers and pants with the end of the legs rolled up. I guess all BMW owners are yuppies with drug problems....

bye-bye troll, feeding time is over.

Thanks, for the info, but I still like the 335i better.

Still in all seriousness Carnage, you gotta let go, some people are just ignorant to the core and will not budge.

Just like the Azn Vette guy, just because he is Asian, you would assume he is driving a Toyota, Honda, or Lexus?

As I said in my earlier post, you can have your preferences. So if the 335i is better for you then the 'Vette that is all fine and dandy. But, give the 'Vette the credit it deserves and don't let the image it has get in the way of the buying decision and credit.

Man Law states that whenever bring up height in a conversation about "size" you are small.

Come on now, what the hell is this high school?

PS - Look at your name, LRG Nor Cal? Why do you have to refer yourself as LRG? Are you trying to compensate for something?
