+1 - They are growing, not cutting back. It would also appear they are confident enough in the demand for their vehicles in the U.S. that sales will not be significantly affected by reducing an ancillary benefit. One that none of their competitors offer.

Theres alot of competition but nothing I would take over a well upgraded bimmer as of yet in the sport sedan space.
The loss of a year on the maintenance isnt a deal breaker for me.
Loss of a year on warranty.. thats a diff story.

According to Car & Driver Magazine, 57% of BMWs are leased rather than purchased ( http://blog.caranddriver.com/the-mos...only-purchased ).

Since the “Ultimate Leasing Machine” has a standard lease term of 36 months, BMW probably realized that their most cost-conscience, low monthly payment customers place no value on 12 extra months of free maintenance that can’t be used beyond their 36-month lease terms.

BMW probably also realize that people who purchase their cars don’t mind paying an extra $59.95 for an oil change during their 4th year of ownership.

We have people who have cages in their M3/M4's who clearly track their car, and then bring it in for brake vibration. I've manipulated my own CBS data to reflect due oil changes and I think I'm on my 8th or 9th warranty oil change (because I don't agree for a second about their 15k mile oil services). If you own a manual transmission vehicle, I HIGHLY suggest getting them to throw a clutch in there before you can't anymore. Just be warned, it's impossible to get a flywheel covered.

isn't it standard to replace any dual mass flywheel when the clutch gets changed?
