I purchased my car through a broker and he called the vendor who put in the order to check the status of of my car. Not exactly sure where they got the info from but I was contacted by my broker who was told this info.

I'm hoping that what was told is to be true since I'm planning to use the car for my wedding that's coming up in 2 weeks. If its not the case then its ok, shit happens and its out of my control. I know I'll get the car eventually.

Good luck to every one. Stay patient and hope everything works out in the end!

Anyone else hear about this or why it is being recalled?

April too? Are you serious? My CA knows nothing, she's just telling me of there's a problem, BMW would contact me. Who did you call to find that out?

A poster on here on the recall/diff thread in the UK forum, his car is an April build the dealer has called him to say the car is affected.

Edited to add March build not April.

The most frustrating part of this whole thing is how little information everyone has. Even the CAs don't know what's going on. This isn't like that bug in pokemon go, all of us spent so much on our cars... SMH

I know, I'm not sure what BMW is trying to do by keeping everyone in the dark, but they've got a lot of upset consumers. It's been 3 weeks and they've yet to release any information about this problem.

Well, as long as they're "gurrentting" it, whatever that means.

I did ED May14th. My car has April 27 built date. It got delayed at the VPC for 32 days to replace the windshield but it is not affected by the differential issue.

So, looks like "work order started" simply means something like "we've assigned a differential to your car, but don't have it yet or haven't started installing it yet". But I presume this is better than having no date estimates, which I have been reading about (and I feel for you!).
My date just got pushed back to 9/2.

Another week and no updates for my car that's sitting at the Performance Center. I am starting to think it may well be 6-8 weeks for my car, then add 2-4 weeks to schedule PCD on top of that.

Are we all sure that these cars can be driven without problems or causing any harm until the diff is replaced? I just want to make sure it's OK to drive....

Thanks for the insight.
I did 3,500 miles on mine in Europe and it was hunky dorey - but is part of this stop. Just drive it and bring it in when they have th parts.

Drive it and bring it back when they have the part. No problem at all. Still waiting for my parts, but also heard they might get delayed to arrive.

9/2 holy s..t my car got to the VPC on the 7/31 so I guess it will be the end of September. I may cancel the order and just reorder a new one. I would probably get the new order before this car gets a new rear diff

I agree its f'n annoying that '17s are rolling down the line with available inventory meanwhile '16s are sitting idle for weeks/month waiting for a fix. Doesn't seem right. Take care of a customer now or a customer later? Customer now should have priority.

But, I'm trying to stay calm. I'm sure BMW has a well throughout plan which we are not apprised of. If this drags out too long then dealers will be stuck with a massive inventory of '16s while '17s are available into the winter months. I cant see that happening... If it does then BMW royally screwed over us (waiting '16 buyers) and the dealers. If we wait it out and It takes until October/November then there is a good chance you scored a '16 with one hell of a deal. less than invoice? The motivation to sell a '16 over a '17 will be in our favor. Think of it that way.

Doesn't matter anyway - i'm going to win the M2 and M4 GTS in the CCA raffle.

I think you may be right. I ordered my MY 2017 on July 8th. I finally got a production number for my build to begin first week of October. CA advised my car should be ready for pickup by mid-November.

If this diff issue drags on until Sept/Oct, you're better off just cancelling the order and waiting the extra month or so for a MY 2017. You'll save yourself one year of depreciation.

Some early 2017 orders are affected as well which includes myself. I placed an order for a MY17 M4 in late June and got an early allocation. My car rolled off the production line on July 5th and it's been sitting in Germany for a month now on delivery hold.

I have no idea when I will take delivery as it's been extremely difficult to get any info from my dealer.

Hi all. I am new to this forum, but a long time ///M owner stuck in midst of this delivery delay.

Has anyone had any luck getting a loaner from a dealership until this sorts itself out? I got another $500 off my car from BMW Military Sales, so I am paying below invoice now but I am doing my best not to go full wrecking ball mode. They are now shipping my car to a local dealer for the repair...where it will sit until this affair is over. So far I will have made 2 payments on a car that is 2 months late and the buyer for my M3 is showing up next week. Does anyone think it is worth negotiating a few cosmetic performance parts or is that out of line? I ordered my car on 23 March and still only have the invoices to show for it which is frustrating to say the least.

Anyway, it is nice to be part of the forum I have been stalking for awhile. This forum has been awesome during my ordering process.
