Agreed, I don't believe it was to meant to give Hamilton the advantage. Mercedes brought Bottas to cover Max. When Merc analyzed Bottas' old tires, they realized that the old tires still had a decent amount of life and that's why they told Hamilton to hold steady to get through the graining period.

Bottas had the advantageous strategy since he can stay close to Max. Hamilton's strategy was no more than a "fingers-crossed-throw-a-dart-on-the-wall" and see if we can stay ahead in 1st and he managed to get ahead of Bottas with fresher tires.

We are in trouble by the tire wear . Probably in Spain the issue will not be fixed by the softer Pirelli rubber. But we are working on it .
We should be worried by the heat in Spain . Spain comes later in this season , the august sun in Spain will be hotter than usual .
The Red bull's pace is really strong in the heat .

mate that shows the grip level that cars have.. thats why Merc's blister tires cause they can put more load on the tire.. McLarens as well actually its a very good thing as long as tire can pull it.. for power comparison take a look at the speed traps even though its connected with downforce setup as well but still.. Renaults were quite fast.. they dont have the strongest PU but still lower downforce worked for them..

thats gear ratios mate it change according PU and driver wish they were all in 6th that we could understand better the ratios.. Red Bull and Merc's are closer than i think thanks for posting..

Seing the revs from the three up there there is a LOT more to come from the Honda PU..and no wonder the Ferrari's are strangling themselves 1600rpm more with much less speed. Merc using 500rpm more than RB,well need more cooling which means more weight over the tyres, together with the added downforce mmmm not the greatest cocktail in high track temps
