My first bimmer that I purchased is the 2021 M340i, the 1st bimmer in my household (my dads) was the E30 3 series. The first bimmer I drove was a E39 5 series (older brothers car)

My first was an E30 318i -84 which I had for a few years in the mid 90s.
The second one was a 320d xDrive F31 2016 so I stayed away from BMW for 20 years or so. |

I can't remember the year but late 70's 316 in the ugly booger green that the Germans used. Ran pretty good as a Army hand-me-down car while stationed in Germany in the late 80's. That color though...just awful!!

New forum member, first post here, first BMW!
I have just bought a 2013 320i for my partner. I work in IT and am absolutely LOVING the configurability of this car. It's our first ever euro. My own car is a 2011 Mitsi Evo X, and I've got to say that the level of tech and customization ability in the BMW is far ahead of anything I was expecting, even after driving brand new jap cars. The car needs maps and radio update to NZ (jap import), so I'm looking for ways to do this. Unfortunately I've just been laid up with a broken patella so getting in and out of cars is off the menu for a couple of weeks. Researching and preparing in the mean time. I've so far got a bluetooth OBDII connector, and the bimmercode app. Looks like I might need an OBD cable as well? Any other tips for a first time owner? |

1979 320i - Silver, Blue Leatherette, Blaupunkt Radio was inserted vertically (OEM), believe it was a 4 spd stick
Bought used from a friend. Had always lusted over a BMW and next one was more modern with limited revs (sort of defeats the purpose) an '84 325e - by this time, BMW had modernized the interior

Growing up in Munich Germany what else than a BMW. My first car was a 1979 orange E12 518. The first generation of 5 Series. I wish I had a picture.

My first will be a 2021 X3 M40i that is enroute from Spartenburg.
This will be my first German car and hope I have not made a mistake with respects to reliability or the lack of. I know what I'm getting into regarding the depreciation crash and being gouged for maintenance. It's the reliability crash reputation after warranty that really concerns me. Oh well. I'll probably just extend the warranty and move on. If you want to play you have to pay. |

first car / current daily is a F32 430i xDrive that i am in love with. Super happy with how much performance you can get with the entry level car and will use it as an efficient daily and have a different car for the track.
With a stage 2 tune, the entry level cars are over 300 whp and 350 wtq which is crazy output per liter. |

Newbie to the forum....first BMW was a 2004 325xi. It was only 3 weeks old when someone backed up into the driver side and didn't leave a note. Next was a 2006 330i 6speed with sport package. Loved that car. Newest addition is 2021 M2comp, now I know what TRUE love is!!

My very first car was a 1998 528xi in black. I miss the hydraulic steering... I don't miss the leaks and electrical failures, though. That said, it lasted over 15 years and 160k miles without any drivetrain issues. Its time was up when the A/C stopped working and wasn't worth fixing.
Next was a 2019 X5 xDrive40i in black. Big gap here... BMW really stepped up their interiors and tech with the G generation. Got backed into in a parking lot. Shortly after, it was crashed into while at the dealer for a wash... Mom said it was unlucky, swapped it for a 2020 in gray. And my first car in my name, a 2020 330xi in mineral white. I was almost set on an LCI F30 340xi until I saw the mineral white in person. The G20 looks good in general, but MW is just beautiful. Photos don't do it justice. Better tech and strong lease deals helped, too.

I learned to drive on my dad's 1997 mitsubishi mirage and that was going to be my first car until my mom totaled it.
Then my parents got a 2001 Elantra which was a heaping pile of crap but felt luxurious compared to the Mirage. The transmission would randomly get stuck on third gear and no mechanic could figure it out. Had to replace the O2 sensor a couple times. Got it with 35K on it. At 70K, the engine exploded and I traded it in for scrap metal which was approximately worth $190. Then I graduated college and bought a 2015 2.0 Mazda 3 which was my favorite car experience. Drove it everywhere and put 80k+ on it. Might still have kept it but I lived in Philly for 4 years and parked it on the street. It got hit multiple times, with the worst hit making the passenger door hard to open and demolishing the entire side pretty much. Drove it like that for a while because it was a city car and wasn't worth the cosmetic repairs. Got 2k on a trade in and that was a fair deal I suppose. Still fun to drive and chuck around, just a step below a hot hatch. Once I moved just outside of the city, I got the 2020 330i which is fantastic and I'm super duper happy with it. Such a badass car to whip around in. |

Really neat to see a bunch of E36 M3's on here. They really do make great first BMW's and M's.
