I say JDS does NOT have the standup to take out Carwin, did you see his pitifull performance agaisnt FAT ASS NELSON, what a disgrace. He might be able to take him down, but I see Carwin as the far stronger superior grappler/wrestler, and the superior striker. I think Carwin finishes the fight within 2 rounds.

I like JDS much better than Carwin but I'd be really surprised if he somehow pulls out a win over Carwin... that said, the longer the fight goes I'd say the odds start going up for JDS drastically. But that is quite a storm you have to weather in the first round, even Brock barely hung in there.

Also, Nelson is a fat ass but that dude is also a tank. He has only ever been TKO'd once and that was by Arlowski...

TBT I think Junior and Carwin is a better fight than Brock anyway. Brock can't handle a good striker. He almost got KO'd by Carwin and you saw what happened with Cain. I think Cain v JD would be a good match.

And what has Arlovski done lately except get knocked the fuck out... Hes been on a downward spiral for years... Doesnt say much about Nelson at all. Nelson isnt a tank, he just has 100lbs of fat blocking body shots that he uses to lay on you with, if he can take you down. Nelson is a joke in the top tiers of the HWD. Hes going to be gone in a cpl years without a title or a title shot, count it.

Now if you say he doesnt have that well of a standup defense plan, yeah, but whos to say he wont get better. Not everyone in MMA starts out great at everything, hard work and training makes for a well rounded fighter. Standup is just an area where he has to work, same with ground game is where others have to work... I.E. Silva vs Sonnen, Silvas ground game before Sonnen got gassed was non existant.

I think if JDS can survive the 1st round, he will win but thats a big IF, you know Carwin is gonna come out like a maniac after being out of mma for so long due to injuries. Nelson is an ok fighter but he still has a lot to prove, think the Mir fight will show what he's really made of

and I'm sorry to rehash older fights but you cannot say Sonnen lost cause he gased, he has lost 8 out of 11 fights by submission and half of them by triangle, the guy has no bjj defense period, he is a great wrestler but he has never put in the work to be well rounded, too bad we will prob never see a rematch due to his suspension and all the trouble he is in

As with being caught in the mount position, it's not a matter of if you're going to get hit so much as it is a matter of how much you're going to get hit before you escape/reverse/etc...

Everyone gets tagged at some point. Brock's issue is that he really doesn't seem to like getting hit....not that most people do, but it's an understanding that it will happen at some point. he needs to condition to not fall apart when he's hit. Granted Carwin is a hard hitter, but you do not run and turn your back to someone that is active trying/seeking to hit you like that.

Wow, I had no idea Carwin lost so much weight. I like the fact that he was one of the biggest guys in the UFC and stacked up well against Lesnar's size but I think his new physique will be a good match up for the smaller and faster JDS. This fight will be epic. We are definitely seeing a new and improved Carwin though.

before seeing that carwin training video, I thought his only chance was a first round KO but that fight just got a whole lot more interesting cause if Carwin new training pays off, JDS wont have the cardio advantage anymore
