Blood Sport 1980's classic is on Netflix
Seeing it with my son, laughing at all the bad acting Mr. Frank W. Dux: Say it! SAY IT!! SSAAAYYYY ITTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Big Guard at door: Okay, USA! 1988 I was 6 when it was in the movies, my crackpot uncle took us to see it (rated R) after I wanted to take karate lessons lol |

I am working, wood working, and drinking. That is about it right now. Got lots of things to build so the time is appreciated!

Because my job used to be mostly travel, I'm catching up on things that normally get deferred until the short times I'm home:
- Spread 15 yards of mulch on the slope behind the house - Start/check the irrigation system after being winterized - Bleach/pressure wash back deck (was getting mold/moss/mildew, as it is mostly shaded by a stand of trees) - Washed all windows inside & out - Washed/sealed wifey's car and my car - Went through the house with the wall paint, touching up scuffs/dings/scrapes - Moved everything out of the garage, swept/mopped sealed floor and reorganized upon replacing everything - Replaced leaking power steering hose on the weekend toy (autocross-modified CSP Miata) I'll be glad when quarantine is over, and I can go back to work and get some rest.... |

Set up my new shelf unit for my network gear today. I had to unplug everything while I moved stuff into place. After I fired everything back up, my network speed was measured in Kbps. Argh!!! I powered-cycled the modem and router a couple of times and it didn't improve. Then we had a nasty line of T-storms move through, so I had to back off for a bit. Just came back to it now and decided to check the coax cable from the wall jack to the modem. Sure enough, while moving stuff around I had managed to loosen the coax cable just a bit. It was attached enough to give me some access, but obviously was not tight enough. Now I'm back to normal speed.
Damn rookie error not checking that first. But at least I found it and didn't have to have the cable company tech come out and embarrass me.

I ended a relationship in late January and she finally moved out in early March, just a couple weeks before the lock-down. That ended up being really fortuitous timing. We would have been at each others' throats 24/7. I can handle the isolation and loneliness, as long as my home is a place of peace.

Considering I've done nothing but study Biology for the last 4 years and will be starting medical school in the fall, I figure what better time to start learning about investment strategies then during a global pandemic.
For my first lesson, I bought some cheap stocks through fidelity last week with some money I had left over from textbook rentals. I have since sold them to get a better understanding of how things work. On Monday I’m going to start MIT open courseware lesson: (15.433) on investments. This should keep me busy for a while. The open course contains notes, quizzes, exams, and problem sets. I’ve never really had anyone teach me this stuff. It’s always just been “go to school and get a good job,” hoping the rest would fall into place. But without any solid investment advice, I've had an urge to learn it on my own. Does anyone have any book recommendations? Not interested in the run of the mill guru types, i.e. Dave Ramsey, Tony Robbins, etc. but rather something from a more principled approach. Thanks for any recommendations, |

I'd ordinarily be up to my eyebrows in some of the projects I have queued up at my cabin, but I'm trying to rustle up some work for my business so I'm glued to phone and email all day on weekdays so I haven't tackled anything of any size because it would just be an exercise in frustration with all the interruptions I'd have. If I land some work I may delay the start a bit so I can do some of the cabin projects, but only if I'm really sure it's not going to get things off to a bad start with the client(s).
I had planned to unload one or both of my GT40 and GT, but I suspect the market for them is somewhat soft at the moment. It'll come back. The timing sucks because there was a small post-Ford versus Ferrari demand spike, but I think that was short-lived may have fizzled now.

Well, I missed the closing of the barbers here, and so haven't had a haircut since last year.
Yesterday we dug out the old electric clipper we use on our Samoyeds. I'm in trouble now.... Murf |

Still working, although we've been forced to use vacation to reduce hours until end of April. So far, I have to say I've gotten more done these past few weeks than I have in years. Usually, when I have a long weekend or vacation, I'm usually traveling somewhere (girlfriend works for Delta so I get to fly for free minus taxes).
So far, I've done most of the work in the garage. It's nothing fancy, but I want to turn it into something more Garage Journal worthy rather than just a storage space. I've pressure washed the 2 inside bays (4 bays total) and have started painting the walls. Also put together a Craftsman cabinet and organized some. Also gave the E36 a bath. The pollen around here is absolutely brutal. [/url] I've got 3 to 4 day weekends coming up until the end of the month. Got 15 trees I have to plant that I'm really looking forward to. Got 2 more car to wash, full E36 brakes overhaul and oil change for the Tundra. Plenty to keep me busy, even if this drags on for longer. On a somewhat positive note, not being able to eat out and travel has made me lose weight (in a good way) and given me time to focus on my financial goals.
