speaking of old lenses, just bought an old 35mm f/2.5 made in 1980 that is so tiny for $40. something to hold me over until I decide if I want to pay for a 35/1.4.

One of the reasons I like the Leica M system is that you can use vintage lenses from the 50s or earlier. They are probably optically worse than the newer lenses with updated technology and manufacturing, but it's still pretty cool.

I started out with a Canon AT-1 back in the mid-70s. I have picture of the box and all the stuff that came with it spread out on my bunk in Korea. I loved that camera. When it got destroyed due to my carelessness in Germany in the 80s, I went with a Canon A-1 (two, actually). I never really like that camera as much as the AT-1. I sold it and my lenses in the early 90s. My first digital was a Sony P&S. It always took very green images, but was otherwise ok. I jumped to a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 a few years ago just to get back into photography. I still carry that camera in my backpack sometimes. When it came time to buy a DSLR, jumping back into Canon just seemed like coming home.

Back when pixels were referenced and people thought you were talking about Tinkerbell...
HS photo class and I needed a camera, so I bought a AE-1 and then a used A1..... skip 25 years later Pentax waterproof digital for a trip to Hawaii entered me into the world of pixels. Wifes grant money funded a whole lot of Canon 40D and lenses. Mostly went with Canon for one reason only #1 Nikon stuff is more expensive and especially back in the 70's the lenses were pricey just like BMW. Didn't get one of those until 03 and used.(740i)

Blasted humidity.
I was coming home from the store and saw this very cool shot possibility. The sun was just going behind a huge thunderhead and the rays were coming out of all sides like the Japanese flag. It was just outside my neighborhood, so I ran in the house (which is at a cool, comfy 75F), grabbed my camera bag, and ran outside (where it's 94F with a 78F dewpoint). So much for grabbing a sweet shot.

that's when you set your hyperfocal and just fire away.
does the same thing in extreme cold. i was in milwaukee years ago and came inside after shooting out in the snow and couldn't shoot anything in the museum for what seemed like forever. and forget wiping the glass.

If you have moisture on the rear element, I imagine you would already be screwed sideways. My thoughts would be to:
A: wave your camera like a nut to warm it up B: fan it with something to do the same. at any rate the neighbors would say, "I think he has finally cracked"

i wouldn't worry about the sensor. as long as you're not taking the lens off when it just fogged up, it'll be fine. i doubt even the rear element gets fogged if it's still attached.

speaking of lenses. picked up a little snub-nose 35mm for $40. this is as compact as i can get my camera (without paying for a $400 pancake lens). :\

That's a killer price. I wonder what shipping would be. I found one on CL that a fellow univ. person is selling. She wants $900 for it, but if it's out of warranty I don't think it's worth it.

If you want me to go and look, let me know by Th. You can ask them shipping rates on FB and make sure they do have it in their Maui store.
