I was just joking by saying the ZCP diff had to be stronger to handle the extra power, though I guess that got lost in translation on the interwebz.

As a note to all the Canadians: the contacts on page 23 are useless for us. BMW North America only applies to the USA (I guess Canada must be in Asia then...) and BMW Canada is a different entity with different contacts, which is just f'ng great.

I did get a reply from Jess is 5 minutes flat which is pretty amazing and he promised to pass on my email to the BMWCA folks (nothing but praise to him), but I have zero expectations from them given what information BMWCA has provided me with over the last 3.5 weeks (ie. nothing, zero, zip, nada)
I couldn't agree more. Our friends to the south have been getting a lot more info than us from BMW. I've been phoning BMW Canada regularly and all they can ever tell me is that my vehicle has a status of delivery hold but don't know why or where the vehicle is currently. I find it hard to believe that BMW Canada can't even keep track of vehicles sold to Canada and their statuses. How is it possible that they don't have access to this very basic information. Surely they must know who to contact to get some updates on behalf of their customers?

I know how frustrated our US friends have been with this fiasco but just imagine us Canucks who don't even have access to a Genius line or online tracking!!! We are left at the total mercy of our dealers for any kind of info regarding our vehicles.

It's amazing how I can keep track of some toilet paper that I order online but it's next to impossible to track the status of a luxury vehicle order.

I took the advice from a previous post, and group emailed all the managers listed in a post on page 23 last night, and this morning received a call from Nancy from BMWNA. She stated that this is not an official "recall" and reassured me that the car is safe to drive. She didn't tell me specific details but did say that there wouldn't be any issues for 10000-15000 miles. She didn't know when parts would be available. All I cared about was safety and not having to turn my car in for, potentially a couple of months.
Still seems odd withholding customers' cars if there is no potential issue for many months or even years in my case (island life)... A staged recall could have been a smoother option? I took delivery of my car and drove it for a week before it started making noises from the back end and is now sat on my drive awaiting dealer collection (when the diff arrives for fitting). Safer on my drive methinks...

I just dropped my 2016 and ordered a 2017 with everything it's fully loaded with Apple CarPlay and wireless charging and Idrive 5.0 they can keep there 16 that losses 8,000 the second you leave the dealer and you'll have some kind of hacked up differential job. I work for this company and don't understand there tack tics people who ordered a 2016 shouldn't be getting it the same time as 2017's. Bmw you really screwed up this time.

Also, and this may not be true but I have no reason to believe otherwise from my guys (and I think another forum member posted the same), the rear diffs are actually there, but they forgot to send the mounting bolts, which is delaying the whole thing.

I would personally like to bitch-slap whoever it is that is coordinating this recall. Un-f*cking-real.
Well I can confirm first hand that this is true. My diff arrived at my dealership this morning. No bolts. Fuck me.

The one coming out didn't have bolts that they could use?

They said they will get confirmation if they are 1 time use, but I woudn't be surprised at this point if there is more to it than just bolts. What a disaster.

I was told on the list as well, and I asked them to take a picture when the part arrive. They asked me why? Haha, I can't understand.

I just received a call from the Performance Center where my car has been sitting for the last month. My M5 has been repaired and they offered to re-schedule my delivery for as early as next week. I have to wait until the week after due to work, but I am beyond surprised and thrilled.

I hope others here start getting similar good news in the not too distant future.

I ordered in March, produced late May, arrived into Charleston in June and has sat for the last two months.

I'm sorry but that made me laugh. Like finally getting this sexy woman's pants off and she asks "you got a condom?"

No.

How in the hell do you forget to send the bolts? Makes you wonder how good the fix is going to be with the differential. What a circus..

Why didn't you offer to just go get some at Home Depot?

Question

I am new to this forum and "patiently" waiting for my first BMW, a 2016 Sakhir Orange 7AT M3, but I will start with a dumb question: I see the term "CA" used frequently, as in "I need to contact my CA", but what does CA stand for or mean?

Client Advisor = sales person

Also don't use 7AT...use DCT so you don't get lit up by some crazy BMW fanboy!! LOL

Thanks! I couldn't find anything close to "Client Advisor" in any online acronym decoder, so I was really mystified. OK, I will also use DCT in the future. I don't want to get lit up because I was sacrilegious and ordered an automatic transmission. You guys seem pretty nice though.

LATEST UPDATE:

"Good afternoon,

We have not heard back from BMW if we are able to re-use the old bolts.

So far, they have confirmed the last part we are waiting for should be Tuesday.

BMW Canada is aware of the escalated nature of the situation and they are doing everything possible to expedite the parts."

In other words, "Fuck off. We don't care about you. We experienced our best sales month in July and will be collecting our fat bonuses."

Unless I'm reading into this wrong?
