Money doesn't buy brains I guess. It's stupid. It's a stupid investment, it's a waste of money altogether, you get nothing out of having a fake watch.

If you try and sell it, you can't or you get nothing for it. You look like a poser I don't care what you say. STUPID as in NOT SMART.

It's interesting how polarizing the fake/rep argument is. With the reactions on this board (and others) you'd think that genuine owners feel physical pain every time a fake is bought. I've considered purchasing a daytona rep and still might. Why? The Daytona is gorgeous, and I don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend climbing the Rolex hierarchy by buying OP's and such. I wouldn't advertise it as gen either.

It almost seems the distaste for reps comes from not only the copycat styling, but also that current production reps rival top dog brands using japanese movements. At the end of the day though it's metal jewelry folks- don't get too bent out of shape

Poseurs never lie and always tell people that their fake watch is a knock-off.

Oh wait... Poseurs by definition are liars. I stand corrected.

I have both, high end Swiss watches and fakes and always tell people when I wear a knock off. It's like wearing costume jewelry.
If I really find I like the fake watch I will usually get the genuine version.
On the other hand I got the ceramic GMT when it first came out. Paid a lot for it and found I didn't like it. Preferred my old Pepsi GMT which was thinner and the blue red is so classic. Fortunately Rolexs hold or increase in value and I made a little money off it.

Only reason I can see to wear a fake is to impress other people. If this makes you happy you should do it, just seems really weak/shallow. I fee the same about toupee's, whatever makes you happy.

THIS. ALL OF THIS.

I mean I can see someone buying a fake Rolex for $30, but paying more than that, no. Nobody can convince me that a fake is worth more than that, no matter how well made.

If you're against placing ///M badges on non M vehicles then you should certainly be against fake watches.

The people on here who tell others they are wearing a fake watch if asked what kind of watch it is...lol...no, no you don't, unless the person asking obviously knows it's a fake. To the rest of the world you say, this is a Rolex Daytona or whatever brand of fake watch you're wearing.

I have several fake watches. I'm retired military. I purchased a few on the streets of south Korea, Baghdad, Iraq and Kabul Afghanistan.

I have a Tag that I bought for $40 on the street south Korea (Osan AB). It ran for 10 years. I have a Breitling I paid $75 for in Kabul in 2013. It looks amazing and still runs. I have Rolexs that I bought in Iraq.

I bought another Tag in New York on Canal Street looks great and runs great.

I like my fakes.

I'm not going to spend over $100 on a watch. A nice watch to me is an Invicta and I have have several of those too.

I know a few big Rolex heads that have a couple high quality replicas as well. You would be amazed at the quality of some of the newer, $750-$1,000 Rolex clones. I've seen some Rolex dealer guys get tricked by them in person. I think the mindset behind some of them is if you think that there is a significant likelihood that the watch could be stolen or lost on an outing, some people opt to wear the replica instead. Risk-mitigation. A lot less pucker factor when you realize your $1,000 Ceramic Daytona turns up missing, rather than a $25,000 Ceramic Daytona.

I don't personally have a problem with most replicas or frankenwatch builds, as long as it is done tastefully and not in an obnoxious manner. It's the people that wear them for the appearance of being big-time, when thy are so clearly not, that I find issue with. Any precious metal replica is pretty cringey to me, though. Steel or bust.
