Love those old Vettes.

It's interesting to know that if I took this same picture with the same lens on my 5D MkII and then cropped it to this size, there'd be almost the same number of pixels on the subject. The real advantage of the crop sensor is that the subject is larger in the viewfinder and easier to keep AF points locked on. With the 7D you get the advantage of 8-fps, which allowed me to pick this particular image out of four or five "keepers". The only reason that I occasionally consider the 1D MkIV is that it'll do single-point AF with the 2x TC. That's a lot of extra money for that one feature, but it keeps me thinking. Maybe the 7D MkII will include that capacity. We'll see... Dave

I think i'm going to have to look you up next time i'm in Colorado visiting my dad.... I have lots to learn from you.
And you're right, for the price of the 1D mkIV you can have 2 amazing cameras with 98% of the functionality of the 1, and still have some money left over. |

Got it... did you use the fence posts to support your handheld shot?

sounds fun, wouldn't mind a rip in an M3 through the mountains...
We'll see how this year looks, I'm always up for learning some camera tricks. |

No, sorry to say, I was just too lazy to move so that the post wasn't in the way. The buck was spooked already, so moving the car or getting out of it might have caused him to run, which he did soon after this. Still, I should have tried it without the post in the way. I saw the post as I took it, but the buck was filling the frame and I couldn't get him framed like I wanted and eliminate the snow.

What were your settings? I'm suspecting that this is a relatively high ISO, but I could easily be wrong. Dave
