I read a book cover to cover this weekend. Started yesterday afternoon and finished a little while ago. It was beautiful out yesterday so I sat outside for hours.

Swung by my office just now to water my plants and grab a webcam. On the way home I stopped at my usual station to top off. Was down to half a tank. Premium was $1.75/gal. Too bad I can't make use of it more.

ARRRGGGHH!!! I just ordered a new Dell PC and went through the whole process seemingly fine. Then I get an email from Dell saying they could not put the transaction through. Chase is giving them grief. I call the Chase customer service number to hear "We are closed now."
WTF???? I buy 4-figure stuff all the time. Why is this one an issue? It's Dell for Pete sake. Not like some fly-by-night scammer on eBay. Damn this shit pisses me off. Update: Finally got Chase to allow the transaction. They blocked it because I'd never used my card to buy directly from Dell (or so they say). So does that mean I need to clear any new large purchase through them first?

My brother made a "Live Instagram" 1980's trivia tournament
Our custom made rules: 32 players, 1 at a time, 10 questions each round broken up in a few nights, elite 8 was tonight, final 4 tomorrow Fun and it killed some time, we already flagged my cousin the cheater, 1983 movie with Nickalos Cage, he was using his wife's phone to google it "Valley Girls" wife's phone rang in his hand when he was on Insta Live with us... lol Edit: Easter is big for my family, big dinners, church service with family/friends, this year we did it with some help of online games (face time) during cake and coffee. We're planning 90's trivia tournament because I was born in 82 and most of our circle is 30's half the questions I didn't know, 2ks trivia just sucks so that'll never happen Last edited by NEfan508; 04-13-2020 at 03:08 AM.. |

Trolling social distance warriors on facebook. I had a few people unfriend me for calling them out when they post articles about staying at home and not going out for any reason but then also posting pictures of all the mulch and flowers they just picked up from Lowes.

We've been making major use of delivery. Two grocery stores here have it, albeit with different apps. And I've had a couple of deliveries from Home Depot as I update my home office. Then there's the usual UPS/Fedex stuff. Haven't set foot in a store in over two weeks.

I made it through the hundreds of pages of 1980's typewriter scans of the municipal planning docs that I needed to read by Wednesday, and just opened a hundred page *chapter* of the county's current traffic flow plan. If I don't post here ever again, it is probably because I gouged my eyes out with a fire place poker after reading all of this conflicting information.....

I agree. I also drove my local Lowes to get take out from a near by restaurant. There was a line of probably 40-50 waiting to get into the store, and a line of probably 10-15 vehicles waiting in the much line. My parents, who cancelled Easter dinner because they were worried about my wife and I coming over, were complaining about the long line to get into Lowes and how they were out of the deck stain they "needed."

vreihen16 how are you liking the 16" so far?
I realized my problems with it came from me not wanting to work Absolutely amazed by the sound quality of it, prefer to use it over my bluetooth speaker now |

Many were buying flowers and other stupid clearly not essential stuff. Including an older lady I saw all masked out with a cane giving everyone the death stare if they got too close in a packed store. She was buying some hanging plant. Yeah - high risk and scared for your life, but you just HAD to have that hanging plant RIGHT NOW. Humans deserve to die off. LOL

The up-firing speakers really add "shape" to the sound compared with the 13" MBP. I am *not* an audiophile or music person, and let's just say that I would have rather used the 13" MBP on the Zoom meeting that I was just on. I would be running the volume at 3-4 bars (< 25%) on the 13", but had to run the volume at almost 100% to hear the Zoom conversation...with my DW hearing it fine from three rooms away questioning my hearing ability! I'm going to have to find how to hook up my racing headset before my next Zoom meeting on Wednesday evening, because I can't suffer through that again.
The keyboard is a solid "meh" so far. However, watching the i9 processor and its 8 cores collecting dust from boredom in iStat Menus as I write this is awesome! I'm still waiting for the leather satchel case that I ordered to arrive, and in the mean time have been suffering with a slippery hard plastic clam shell that feels like a bar of soap waiting to slip out of your hands when you handle it. My only regret is that I am going to have to go back to my bottom-basement desktop iMac in the office when COVID-geddon is over. Besides the dog-slow performance, it will take me a week or more to get it caught up with all of the software updates that I've found/made since I last powered that thing on a month ago.....

Try doing a PRAM reset, I haven't had any issues with volume so far but in Skype my mic and speakers would disable every 3ish minutes and not go back to normal until I reconnected to the call; Zoom would go on and off. Did a PRAM reset and it solved my issues. I'd even say the speakers on this thing is considerably louder than the one on my 13" so I'm really surprised you thought it was quiet. |
