If I recall the race, MAX lead the vast majority of the laps - well until it really mattered

It's clear that many here don't know the rules of Formula One and how the notes from the Race Director the the drivers are applied during the race.

The Turn 4 run-off was illegal during qualifying.

The Turn 4 run-off was legal, though monitored during the race.

Due to RBR complaining about Sir Lewis using the run-off, the Race Director said no one could use it. (Typical RBR complaining rather than upping their game.)

And, most importantly, PASSING OFF TRACK IS NEVER ALLOWED. IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO BEGIN A PASS OFF TRACK, EXECUTE A PASS OFF TRACK OR FINISH A PASS OFF TRACK.

This is typical Max and RBR. He has been dinged in Austin and other places for executing passes off-track. If Max is the alleged, "Greatest Racer in The WORLD", why does he continue to pass people off track. If passing off track is legal, I will go and apply for my super-license tomorrow morning.

You guys trying to diminish Sir Lewis's drive in an inferior car to prop up Max is really sad. Max got beaten by Sir Lewis. In a slower car. With tires that were significantly older. Again.

My friend. You are interpreting the data incorrectly. Checo was less than 4/10th slower than VER. You are comparing ultimate Q3 time of VER to the Q2 time of PER. This is incorrect.

Maybe if Max's wheels were pointed on track after the pass, but they weren't. They were pointed straight towards going OFF the track. He had the speed and confidence to make the pass because he took advantage of the OFF TRACK area after the pass. If there was grass or a wall there, he would not have been able to do it.
