Took a couple of photos of my iX1 whilst trying out a new charger that was built 1 min away from home.

I’ve seen many new HPC/DC chargers (300kW) being built recently. Shame that the iX1 is limited to 125kW (would’ve been great to take advantage of the faster charging speeds - that being said this charger charged my car from 18-77% in 20 mins)

Just picked up my 2024 X1 2.8i. Quite happy with her. Except a few idiotic things that shouldn’t be there.

First order of business was to get my pscup2s mounted for my M4 GTS

I'll remember to take interior pics...

No wear visisble on the oyester seats yet, I wipe down once a week with a damp cloth. I'm not always mindful of wearing clean clothes when driving, I also eat and drink in the car so if anything I would be the one experiencing any accelerated wear.

Looks great ! What front splitter and side skirts are those ? They look awesome. Also is it wearing anything on the back ?

Getting my iX1 being delivered tomorrow and they may just have to be the first mods !

Thanks!

It’s a full kit from Maxton Design. Front splitter, side skirts, rear splitter, and rear spoiler. The set is currently quite a bit cheaper than usual (€655 instead of €800)

I absolutely love it. Gives the car a much more aggressive stance. One thing to note: the front splitter is quite heavy, so if you’re installing it yourself, make sure you follow their instructions and secure the bolts/screws as they recommend.

I added a photo from the back so you can see how the rest of the kit looks

Thanks for the info , you right about the look being more aggressive 🤌. Have you noticed any negative drag impact on range ?

Got a gloss black , so think this would set it off . Although it looks like the spoiler won’t fit the my2024 pro spoiler, which has some aero fins .

Did you install yourself? How did you find it ?

Tbh, I didn’t notice any negative impact on range. If there is, it must only be a couple of KM. I’m getting an estimated range between 380-403km (xDrive30) depending on summer weather, which is the same range I used to get before installing everything.

You’re right, the Maxton Design spoiler is not compatible with the new M Sport Pro spoiler.

I did install it myself. The side skirts and rear splitter were very easy to do. With the front splitter, although slightly more difficult (still straightforward, especially if you’ve done this before) I needed a second person to help hold it up whilst I drilled the holes in.

If you have a second person helping you, the side skirts and rear splitter shouldn’t take longer than 30 mins to install (combined; less if the car is jacked up). The front splitter will take 20-30 mins to install (3M VHB tape, alignment, and drilling). If it’s your first time, it will take quite a bit longer. Just follow the instructions carefully, and everything will be perfect.

I didn’t have my car jacked up so I predrilled the holes on all the splitters to make my life easier when installing. I also definitely recommend using 3M VHB tape in addition to drilling just to be extra secure.

Picked up my iX1 30 last night, few software niggles I hope improve over time but nonetheless I love it already ! Was worried about the M Front seats as I ordered them blind, but I’m glad I did, they are amazingly comfortable and supportive with the adjustable backrest width!

Fingers crossed .

I’ve come from a Tesla , so I’m sacrificing battery and software (minus HUD, thank you BMW) for build quality and steering column stalks haha.

Why they can’t copy the functionality of the Tesla app I’m not sure ….. full climate control and live view for example .

My only real gripe with the iDrive 9 is the clunkyness at the moment (which hopefully will improve version by version) the lack of AR in the instrument cluster and the fact I can’t chose which drive mode to start in .

Is there a complaints / suggestions page on the BMW site we can all coordinate on flooding ?

Looks really awesome.
I do love the looks on the X1.

Don't worry about the super fast chargers.
My Taycan is supposed to charge at 270kw - but in theory it seldom ever gets close.
And even then it's only for a very short time if battery temp etc is perfect.
It needs to build up to max and then already starts throttling back from 50% soc.
Most of the time it's max 150kw.

I noticed the same behaviour on the iX1 and other EVs. If you don’t precondition the battery, charge throttling starts quite quickly. Without preconditioning the iX1 starts to slow down its charging speed at around 60-65%. If it’s fully preconditioned, this happens at around 80%.

Difference between the Taycan and iX1, is that the throttle in the iX1 is all the way down to 70-80kW (less in colder weather). Then again, the battery isn’t as big. I’m not complaining about the charging speed, it’s actually plenty good for my needs. But when I see all the new cars coming out with 200-300kW charging speeds, or even 800V architecture, it makes me wonder how EV charging will look like when the next-gen iX1 comes out

The thing is most super fast chargers (Ionity etc) seldom get close to the stated max speed (busy stalls etc).
Combined with, most cars also don't reach the speed, or only for a short while.
Taycan is 800v / 270 kw - but reality is 50-150 kw/h most of the time.

Also remember frequent, fast DC charging is not good for the battery.
There is a button on the Taycan to limit charging to 150kw/h which is recommended.

There is a little more info about wheels in this thread.
https://u11.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1986612

I have never bought aftermarket wheels and need an expert to hold my hand in choosing rims.
I want wider wheels but I don’t want them to stick out too much past my fenders.

Other than the fact that after driving it 400 meters to fill up the gas after delivery I got a warning light and now they have to change the whole transmission…i love it! That was two moths ago. No parts available in Germany.

Nice IX1 with Maxton design lip, was wondering is your ride at original ride height or lowered?

Thanks!

It’s original height (the iX1 is lower than the X1), but also looks even lower because of the side skirts (also from Maxton Design)
