I'm always pumped going to my son's practice and I volunteer all the time, especially during pregame practice. It's a great national pastime and he enjoys it. Many of our youth have turned their back on the game which is a shame IMHO. Should be a great upcoming season, let's get it on!

April 4th, Yankees home opener against Houston. I'll be there. I don't know what's got into me. I don't have that desire I once had when it came to opening day/season. Maybe its because I don't like the new stadium? The atmosphere is not what it use to be. Even for opening day, the atmosphere is boring. Might be giving up my season tickets after 17 years.

Hopefully Tex, and McCann could learn how to hit to the left side of the infield. I remember when players use to bunt several times during batting practice. Nowadays, there swinging for the fences.

Regardless of how the season turns out I'm glad I am a fan of the Red Sox instead of the White Sox. That team is full of drama queens over LaRoche and his kid.

And the media comments here are worse than the Presidential race comments elsewhere. People are decidedly in one camp or the other. Some are calling for the removal of Exec. VP Williams and others say LaRoche is a prima donna who should do what he's paid to do and shut up.

Giving up tickets after 17 years! It can't be that bad. Yes I must admit the atmosphere is different at the new stadium vice the old but it's still the yanks!

Sabathia with another struggle with two more outings to go. If Nova wins the 5th spot, CC to the pen. However, we all know the Yankees cannot keep all five starters healthy so he'll get his chance, though he looks shot.

Anyone know how long Mitchell will be gone for the Yanks? He should be the 5th starter and have the two headed monster of Nova/CC in the pen. But, because of his past success, CC is numero cinco. No bueno lol.

last i saw from the NY Post was Mitchell is out or Months (no timetable) depending on X-rays this week. CC

Anyone here following a team from a distance (out of market)? If so, how do you watch the games? I've had the DirecTV MLB Extra Innings package for a couple of years, but MLB.TV lost that lawsuit and now they have to offer a single team subscription package for about $80. I'm going to give that a shot this year.

I'm in Miami but for the past two seasons Yankee games have been on TV locally here at least twice a week so I've been somewhat lucky. $80 seems like a great deal for 162 games.

I follow the Sox from a distance, probably the maximum distance

We only have a couple of games a week shown on Fox and it could be any of the games played so I don't get to watch them often. I watch what I can on the Net and unfortunately that's the best we can do.

I was lucky enough to catch a game at Fenway a couple of years ago, what a highlight!

I heard about that lawsuit and was thinking of getting the one-team package as well. There are probably enough games on TV for free but for $80 why not. I don't want to buy the full Extra Innings package. However, I can't seem to find he $80 deal on the DirecTV site. Did you sign up for it?

DirecTV is not (AFAIK) offering the single team option. You have to go through MLB.TV. My ROKU box can stream MLB.TV, so I'll use that to watch games on the TV. I just hope the delay isn't too bad.

I don't think DirecTV could do the single team deal unless they assigned a specific channel to a team. So if you choose the Red Sox, you get channel 745 or whatever.
