Don't worry - there are plans to move to quad refinement, quad design, and quad fit/finish this year too.

France was the country with some of the highest percentage of diesel market share, and for years they have incentivized diesel cars - that may change drastically in the near future.

Stay tuned.
I have to wonder how much of that issue would have been eliminated if VW et all did not use the cheat device, and if all the other German Mfg's other than BMW, did not turn off the blue fluid at cold temps. (ref WSJ article last week)?

Don't you mean "M550e iPerformance M Performance"? Since all plug-in vehicles are branded "iPerformance" now.
No this will be the first BMW M. PHEV using an application of Power eDrive under M Performance.
530e and 540e will be iPerformance.

Ok, so M eDrive vehicles won't use the iPerformance brand - got it.

Sounds like a nice engine, but:

We have tuned 335d cars doing better numbers than that.
And 4 turbos just means 2 extra turbos which will eventually, EXPENSIVELY, fail.

No way. Not even the tri turbo 50d or even the twin turbo 40d make it here. Just the "TwinPower" (marketing) 35d (30d in ROW).

Where did you get this information? How sure are you it will be available in 2016 and not 2017 for en LCI for the X5, if there will even be one? I really hope you are right.

I have many contacts who work within BMW and always keep me updated with good info also as I stated before the new quad turbo engine will be making it's way into vehicles towards the last quarter of 2016 so hope this answers your Q's?

G11/G12 will likely be the first, not G30 like Scott said (expect 750d/Ld later this year, and M550d several months to a year after G3x model intro), and it may not get the M Performance designation. G30 will. AWD applications only.

G01/G02 don't seem to be likely candidates, though engineers can dream of course.

For F15/F16, this engine is not coming any time soon.

And yes, this is the B57S, and it's not for the U.S.

Nah, G01/02 are getting the M40d model, so it will be a lower tier B57

Your information about the F15 is not good for me. I need to replace my current F15 X5 M50d and I really want this new engine

Do you know anything about an LCI for F15? I've heard that there wont be one and the full F15 cycle will be 5 years before the G model comes. Have you heard anything about that?

Which doesn't necessarily preclude an M50d model, necessarily, but I agree - this is an unlikely pairing. However, as I said in my prior post, it would definitely leave the competition in a tough spot to come up with an answer.

I don't think BMW uses the urea add-on at all in Europe. My understanding is that it was a special technology for the US market where the NOx emissions standards are tougher.

In any case, if they are using it now then it's a recent development.

High compression means high efficiency but also more NOx
I also think the production of diesel requires less energy/resources than the production of gasoline.
I think we can work around the global warming issue if we don't get cancer and die first.

Hybridization and ultimately outright electrification is a much better solution overall than diesel. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers but it's true.

BMW is using adblue for almost all diesel models in Europe. My x5 m50d has it.

So, here's the funny thing. I went through my records, and I'm now 80% certain the 5 year cycle for F15 is true. Its replacement should start production in August 2018. Moreover, this piece of information has been staring me in the face for over a year now, and I just kept ignoring it.

I should be able to go from 80% to 0% or 100% within the next 6 months.
