I think it's the opposite. On concepts like these they let the designers do what they want. On actual production models the bean counters dictate stuff like how big the kidneys should be.

I just wish the designers could figure out how to properly design a hood-line. Every F-Series vehicle has it and it really doesn't look good, and it seems like the G-series cars are fixing that, up until the M4

My thoughts too....I think I will like the grill regardless, but this design is more appealing to me than the concept 4.

I hope this how the next M2 ends up looking - just slightly smaller dimensions.

This is also a bigger grill that looks different, yet tasteful and also proportional to the rest of the front end and the car as a whole.

I think the 2002 Hommage maybe closer to the next M2 more so than the CSL Hommage

I’d take that too - different, but just as hot.

They did. We just saw it. I've been saying all along that BMW would not put that grill that was seen in the leaked photos on any upcoming G cars. I'll bet this is the grill that we're going to get. Or something very very close. All that bitchen and whining and threats to move to a P car for nothing.

Can someone explain those laws to me? I would think that if someone is hit by the front of a car it would not matter much if the grille was slanted or upright. It would still ruin your day.
Don't know that law well enough, but just look at this design, it looks like ready to cut the torso then throw the guy's head on the hood in addition to that first impact...

This.
The grill on this car, although tall and vertical, just seems to fit the design. It's proportionally appealing and graceful unlike the concept 4 and leaked photos. Why can't they just use this for the new 4??

Not that easy. Publication after premiere.

This is a great patent related thread:

Arrow Homage toy models at the BMW Welt..

You do realize that patent(that BMWGirlFL posted) is for the TOY model of the Homage. Not of the real car. Look closely at the patent: Won-Kyu Kung, the maker for those models. According to that patent they hold it for fifteen years.

They are sold in the Welt's Gift Shop for around 100 euros. They come in the large 1:18 scale size. You can also find them on ebay.de

The link included above for the German patent identifies the product as Kraftfahrzeuge. US automobile design patents often mention toys & other replicas as well. Fun seeing your model pics!
