Every mailing list I've ever been on in my life is sending me their COVID-19 policy. WTF? Do I care what Marriott's policy is? Or Bank America's?

Nice bowel of ramen and Demon Slayer sake for dinner...stopped by Whole Foods for ice cream on the way home. Interesting if you like to eat potatoes, pasta/sauce, frozen pizza and TP you are out of luck but everything else is perfectly fine.
Talking with a guy that works there that we see often he said they are getting restock shipments every morning and then some...he shook his head and said if people would quit panicking everyone will be more than fine for any grocery needs they may have for 2-3 weeks. |

Anyone with kids in our region is gonna be hating life on Monday. Several counties have closed schools for the next two weeks, sending parents who can't WFH scrambling for emergency childcare services.
We are just north of the east coast ground zero, and have six confirmed cases in our county. The county to our south has 13 cases and one death, 5 in the county to the north, and 4 to the east. Crap is getting real in these parts.....

I went out in deep anticipation of driving the M2C hard but alas the roads were still filled... nevertheless still did a few highway onramp pulls and somehow ran into an M4CS that must have thought the same thing I did...

Spain's lockdown has some exceptions such going to work or buying food and essentials. Those are the two main reasons we leave the house. We're serious homebodies. We eat out a lot, but we can switch that to take-out. And I can go out for a ride on my bike because I never interact with anyone during my rides.
I think I could deal with a two week lockdown. I can WFH, so I wouldn't even need to go to work. This is a pretty good explanation and simulation of exponential spreading of the virus and how to slow it down. As they admit, it's greatly simplified, but the point remains. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...ge%2Fstory-ans

Drove around listening to some Graham Nash with the fam. Nothing has changed, business as usual. I don't get it, local bars and eatery's are still full of people.
After dinner I will be working on my car again. Staying home isn't so bad. |

Installing RAID10 on Ubuntu and setting up samba for a backup server. 4 4TB drives should last for a while. Doing this mainly because I don't know how. Yet.

Probably will survive
Schools closed here for 3 weeks. Weather iffy for anything outdoors. Wife and I are together more than I like. Netflix can only do so much before going a bit batty. No tv sports of any kind is the real killer for me. Not really sure what is going to happen in future. Ran into a guy at liquor store with a full grocery cart of beer and whiskey. He said he was having a apocalypse party and we were invited if we brought toilet paper !

I’ve taken time off work.
In a perfect world I’d find a nice sound bearing S65 and do a heart transplant. Focus on my family and my neighbours, make sure everyone is taken care of. |

I started organizing my room last night; fixed my broken chair this morning and currently finshing up a case study. Tomorrow or tuesday probably will detail my car and by wednesday I'm thinking of trading it in somewhere because I want something lighter and more fun to own/drive.

I have a cheesy/cheap Synology NAS at home, mostly for holding backups. Something hosed one of the config files under the hood a few years ago, and major UI features have not worked since. I never wasted my time calling their tech support, since they would just waste my time with dumb scripted questions and then tell me to format it over and start from scratch.
With the new reality of WFH for the first time, I am giving serious thought to spinning up a VPN client on a device at home rather than being limited to just one computer. The [wonked] NAS could do the task. Doing research, spending up for a newer and higher-grade Synology NAS gets features like being able to run Intel-based Docker images and a few other things that the current one couldn't do even before it was broken. A second idea that I had was to just build my own Linux-based NAS on a Raspberry Pi or something. I really don't need the Linux hand-holding that the Synology provides, but it is a convenient system/UI and add-on packages...when it works. The third option is to spin up the VPN on a spare Pi, and "rent" storage on Amazon to build my own NAS. As much as I'd like to spin up a full VMware ESXi host, I really don't need that horsepower or load on the electric meter. Lots to think about while I am at home for COVID-geddon (my invented term).....

I'm having ServePro around to rip out some drywall and probably rip up the hardwood floors because the morons in the A/C company installed the coil backwards, and it's leaked all through the roof. 3 month old home and this happens

Yep - they are. Still just a hassle for me. They have to dry it out with heaters, all while I can't use my A/C until it's fixed. They can't repair it until the A/C is fixed either, then all the hassle of re-texturing and painting - just very annoying.
