I believe this is the next generation replacement for the F52 1er Sedan. The recent LCI recently unveiled the M Sport Packet for the F52 and with the New 1er and 2er Gran Coupe now available a replacement is now expected. With the replacement expected to receive an Li in China as the Mercedes-Benz A-Klasse and new Audi A3 offer.
Proportions of the car seem to be more FWD. the rear angle of the screen looks too tall for a Coupe.
The imprints under the tarp seem to suggest two lines of door handles.

Working at home but I will put an enquiry in for tomorrow.

As we suspected! Nice one Scott.

That would make sense when you look at the location of the M badge on the front bumper intake. I can’t see this carrying over to NA and EUR models, though we could be wrong.

Maybe plate because it's a clay model?

On second thoughts though.. if you look at the hood line and front fenders compared to the current F52, there are noticeable differences. As people mentioned already, all those changes (front bumper, headlights, hood, side fenders, rear bumper, trunk etc.) would make for a heavy LCI in what I suspect is not a huge market for BMW?

Curious to see what this actually is!!

All development models are indicated for easy identity with the development model code on the licence plate.

Why did they make that lower air intake look so awkward. That is the first thing my eyes go to every time. Its oddly squared off in the middle of two diverging angled lines, but looks out of place.

Why couldn't they take this and make it a bit more coupe-like and call it the 2er Gran Coupe?! It looks a lot more traditional BMW than the 2er Gran Coupe in its current form...

Random stupid design with no defined language I presume as it seems that they are all over the place.

And the front looks ugly too, still keeping the hood line.
Imagine that we can have a hood with just two little lines between the headlamp and the grill. Elegant and classy.
But the choose that ridiculous, ugly scar on the face.
Any individual in that design team who does that or approves such abomination is a mediocre, stupid, senseless and lack of common sense designer. Or in short, an idiot!
Complain much ⁉️

Taillights looks like the same shape as the E90.

Nice try but maybe it's actually Mercedes that is coping BMW.

That was just the addition on an option package though, right? Were there any updates to the grill and lights?

This can't be F52. All F52 models are already out, and there is no nor will never be an M Performance model.

It also looks too complete to be one of the Uxx models.

So, however much it pains me to say this, if this is an actual production car (besides a photoshop consider the possibility of a design experiment), it's most likely a G42.

Scott didn’t say this was the F52 LCI. He said it’s the next generation replacement for the F52. Meaning this is NOT an F52, but it is a 1 series sedan and it’s a few years out.

There are far uglier cars on sale today from other brands.
