Me last month. I do think it's cool but no I don't have the 160-200k this is going to cost. However, does this mean that a non-M 5 series wagon is also coming over?

This is why I can never believe the excuses or explanations of why car x or car y won't make it to a certain market. All we've been hearing every time a model doesn't get introduced to a certain market is cost, too expensive to do this or that and ultimately didn't make sense to bring it. And is the Touring coming back? If not, then bringing the M5 Touring goes even more against this.
But let's bring a wagon that is a M car and will likely be priced over $100k because a car with any of those are such high sellers on their own. I'm glad that something relatively unique is coming but cheesed that we can't get other desirable units that would likely sell more than a high performance wagon (looking at you RS6) because it costs too much to develop and they won't recoup the cost. I could definitely see a 540 touring being my next car in 4-5 years.

Only exception is the Cadillac, but "similar power and weight" isn't true. Manuals are fun and engaging. Better? Nope. Not anymore. Shawn |

100% Interested and maybe my first new M purchase since 2018, that is if the front end looks like this rendition attached and not a version of Grillzilla.
Que up a factory rear hitch mount please for my One-up rack. |

Who could this possibly be for? It will be way out of the price bracket of people who buy wagons as functional vehicles. Anyone who can afford this is an M5 sedan buyer and probably has a truck too.

The M5 Touring will be a handy replacement for the Polestar, which if the market stays stable I can sell for about what I paid for it (but we'll see about that) Shawn |

BMW enthusiasts aren't clamoring for a $200k wagon. At least not to realistically purchase.
They should've just brought the m3 touring here for $100k'ish and stuck a manual in it. But I guess this makes as much sense as an $800k CSL homage. The world's going mad; Porsche thinks they're Ferrari and BMW thinks they're Porsche. |

This actually makes a lot of sense. Neither Mercedes or Audi bring their M3 wagon equivalent to the US. Both Mercedes and Audi bring their M5 wagon to the US.

I had a 2001 540it complete with slushbox. I put a Dinan Stage 1 engine tune and Suspension tune on it and it was a fantastic drive - transmission was more the quick enough up and down. I'm wondering if BMW is trying to find another market for this car to reclaim some of the money that went into it. I doubt it will meet the new Euro environmental regulations within a few years. All that said it would be great if they could send us a standard 540 wagon phev equipped. Perhaps that would get some folks away from the x5 which might be another reason neither the 3 or 5 m wagons will make it here which has been mentioned in other previous posts.
