There are quite a few here in CA that still have septic. Septic = in the trash can. Some of my neices/nephews live only a few miles away and still have septic. When they come to my house, they think I do too.

This weekend we're helping out with digging the trenches to the street so they can FINALLY get connected to the sewer and quite with the damn trash can.

I'd say your friendly neighborhood toilet is the best bet when in any eating establishment.

I don't understand... when I was a kid we lived in a small town and there was no metro sewer - we had a septic tank. Flushing toilet paper was never a problem. There are enzymes in the tank that break down everything. I've never even heard of people throwing away toilet paper until reading it here.

For reals, I want one too. Can you retrofit one to an existing toilet somehow?

some developing countries don't even have shit tickets. They just squat over the hole and then try to rinse it off with a bucket of water, if you're lucky. And good God do they reek when they come out of there.

If at all possible, definitely flush the paper.

+1. With the exception of one residence, I've been on a septic most of my life. Never had an issue with TP. In fact, never even had to have my septic pumped.

A place I used to work had a problem with people throwing used TP in the garbage. Absolutely disgusting. I'd hold it until I got home, or run to a nearby store with nice washrooms.

The Japanese have some high tech ones where the bidet is built into the toilet. Not sure about the retrofit, but you could probably just replace your bowl.

+1 It's really nice to have a warm spray of water on your asshole after a massive dump. And if you think about it, smearing shit around your ass is just nasty...no matter how much you wipe, it's still gonna be dirty.

Nothing worse than taking a big, steamy dump, showering, then realizing you have to contaminate everything again.

IDK how CA septic differs from IL septic, but I'm on septic and have never had a problem flushing

In SoCal they can't build roads that drain... so it wouldn't supprise me if they couldn't build shitters that drain either.
