I think Tanner narrates the Stig's lap (or Adam narrates the Star's lap) needs more emotion and enthusiasm...unfortunate that they don't have the British accent charm and sometimes I cannot differentiate their voice....
JC, RH, and JM all have their distinctive tone and voice...and JC's high pitch and enthusiasm makes everything more interesting... I hope the three hosts in TG US will grow into the show and put more heart in it.....

He's also pretty short from pictures I've seen of him next to other people.

I completely agree. How exactly can you host a car show, and drive supercars if you have never had a car to 170+? From the way he responded you would think he had never been over 130mph. Lets face it after 150mph youre hauling and it all feels about the same from 150-200mph.

Funny - just this morning, I mentioned that they should've gotten Tim Allen. My replacement for Tanner would be Tommy Kendall - just not a Tanner fan. Adam Ferrara can stay, though he needs much improvement.

The interview sucked. If I had a guest like Buzz I would ensure he had a good time and not just cut to the chase about his lap. Also, the furniture in the studio is too contrived. The engine table and car seats should be exclusive to TGUK, not trivialized by a group of hosts who don't deserve it and probably put it there without knowing why they have it. They should try to be themselves instead of trying to copy the original.

They tried too hard to make it like the original. The attempt at "dramatic" cinematography (the slow motion close-ups) were way off par. Looked like they got a a guy fresh out of school to do it. It reminded me of the first time people learned about PowerPoint and the different transitions you can do between slides. Everyone would just end up with slides spinning and twisting onto the screen being completely akward. The same concept applied here. They really need to improve if this is going to stick around.

For your comparison, here is the first ever episode of Top Gear UK. Notice the intro was very, very similar to the US one. Also there are maybe 20 people in the whole studio and they don't even pay attention to Jeremy while he talks, they walk around and look at cars. You can also see how much they can get away with on the BBC. If the US ever talked about shooting someone in the back of the head with a 9MM they'd get fined out the ying yang. Another observation was the lap times. They setup was similar to the US in they didn't show the whole lap and there wasn't a big intro for the Stig, for the lambo they never even showed it crossing the line!
On a side note, that Citroen is pretty damn sick with all the cubby holes and whatnot.

there's only 20 people in the studio in the very first "new" Top Gear....now...u can't even get a ticket entrance easily.... we shall see how the US one evolve in the future....if the production can survive all the harsh reviews....

I finally got an opportunity to see the show on my DVR. I like it more than the gimmick filled British version. The test track is fantastic.
