The ATT Rep told me for the same $30, I can also get unlimited calling to all mobiles...
No change in contracts, rate, minutes, data, etc.

by the next time iPhone is out, AT&T will change something again.
Remember how iPad got unlimited traffic just to have it slashed to 2gigs 2 months later?

I can pretty much guarantee that they will come up with some new plan where you would have to drop your unlimited data. Like switching to iPhone5, where an account with iPhone5 would be incompatible with unlimited data. Obviously an artificial restriction, but it will make them tons of money.

And "stable" is a relative term. You know what you are getting into when you jailbreak, and once you get a shitload of mobile substrate add-ons,
you are pretty much guaranteed to have problems.

This is why i decided to not jailbreak anymore. Had way too many problems and I didn't even have that many add ons. BiteSMS, SnowCover, and winterboard were enough to have my phone crash about 8 times a day

BiteSMS gave me problems at around 4.1 so I stopped using it.

Never had a problem with the unlock and installous (+ subsequent apps), which is (for me) 99% of the value of the JB.

i just got my moms iPhone

When both are on WiFi, FaceTime goes through and connects without an issue (though faster if she calls me rather than if I call her, she is stock 4.2.1, I am Jb 4.3.1)

If I am on 3G and I call her, it lags a lot and it didn't go through once out of the 3 times I tried.
If I am on 3G and she calls me, it goes through smoothly.

She is on Wifi at all times obviously.

So... it works for me

Stock ipsw file.

Did a full restore and it was fine. Jailbroke and was fine. Reinstalled almost all of the original programs and it was fine. I think one of the 3G FaceTime programs was crashing FT so I tried a different one (3G unrestricted instead of my3g) and now it's fine.

yeah I use 3G Unrestrictor

It's cause it makes certain apps think you're on wifi, it doesn't necessarily modify an app

Deep packet inspection would easily reveal that the traffic is originating from something other than an iPhone. Whatever firmware you use, all network traffic goes through AT&T routers, and they know what you are doing.

it didn't "start" with 4.3.1. it takes time to develop software on that scale.
i am pretty sure they started working on it as soon as they realized that they can't milk jailbreakers and geeks (the main tethering market) for $20/mo, like they do with less technically inclined customers.

trust me, this has NOTHING to do with your firmware.

i think the one i tried was either from theiphonespotrepo or xsellize. i also found a .deb that i manually installed. it was looooong time ago though... i was still on iPhone3G

iphone 4.2.1 got upgraded to 4.3.1

i used redsn0w to jailbreak it and it has cydia, but i can't get to unlock to other carriers.

i tried downgrading it, but keeping getting the error 3194, so i changed the host, but still doesn't work.

was anyone successful in downgrading the iphone or getting the 4.3.1 unlocked?
