Something is wrong here. Beat a corvette at what and why beat a corvette who cares about the vette. Get whatever you like. Speed or power does not always equal fun. I'll give you an exemple with bikes I have as much fun on a 34 hp drz400 then one of my old GSX-R1000 on the street. For me it would be used GT3RS.

^ I"m one of the VERY FEW people who hates the GTR and I'm a nissan guy too.. I think its ssssooooo ugly and yes its fast all but gawd damn its designed SO BAD! It looks like ass IMO. I don't care if it does circles around any given car in comparison, I still don't get what is so beautiful about it. But hey... i'm told that i'm crazy when I say this but I'm still sticking to it.
As for the vette, Z06s are PURE HP. Man.. get that and you'll be king. |

I agree its not the best looking car for sure. I love my M3 for so many reasons. Thats why I didnt buy a GTR. But if I were buying for speed purposes "whats faster than a Z06" I would just buy a GTR. Seems like its the best buy for the price. With launch control I dont know what can keep up in its price range. Cant believe you can get one in the 60s.

Great topic, good thing you dont that many Z06 on the street.
10 more votes for the GTR if you just want to beat the Z06, 977 Turbo, 996 GT2 GT3 if you want some styling. Best cars under 70 Last edited by jose_sonictuning; 08-19-2011 at 01:24 PM.. |

Realistically, I don't think anyone here knows what cars cost in Greece. I know I don't. I am aware how different markets have prices that can drastically vary. It would be helpful if you tell us the prices are similar to the US or how they may differ.

Id get a second hand 997 turbo, or even a z06 (love the exterior looks of the vette). Id never buy a gtr, those things are horrible

Same. It may be more expensive to make it as fast as modded 'vettes and GTRs but it's the better package.

Sounds like your choices are:
1. GT-R: blistering fast, tames down easy enough, easy to drive fast, not the best looked though. 2. 997 Turbo: sexy, sexy, fast, slightly more difficult to drive, but still has AWD to save your ass. Also tames down decently. 3. Z06: the go-to weekend car. High power, fairly comfy and tames down ok, but requires some level of driving skill to push it's limits. Will in the process make you a better driver. 4. Viper: requires driving skill and balls. Doesn't understand the meaning of the word tame. Does understand fast. Will eat your scrawny ass for a snack. The original way to piss in a corvettes face. Get it. I won't blame you for hanging steel balls on the back like truck drivers do. |

If I was getting a weekend car, I would get something a bit more crazy than an M3 or a C63. Both of these are all-around vehicles that are built for being driven to and from work as easily as around the track.
If you are looking at Z06 territory (which is a good option), I'd also consider a used GT3, Cayman R, elise/exige, or something else along those lines. |

Who cares what other cars can do or how common they are, it's all about what you enjoy. Hell my old STi was actually faster than my M3, but the M3 is much more fun to drive. And seriously, who the hell buys a C63 AMG as a weekend car? |

Those knocking Z06 1/4 mile times should compare the MPH between the GTR and Z06. The GTR. Have a look at the figures from Motortrend's recent test: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html
The Z06 is still foot to ass on all cars priced anywhere near it. Coming from someone who has owned one AND, tracked one with modded GTR it comes down to the driver. The Z06 responds VERY well to mods and I've seen STOCK ones put down almost 500whp(Dynojet) with a tune ONLY. This doesn't even account for the HUGE weight advantage the Z06 has over the GTR. That said, I find my near stock Z4M much more fun to drive!
