these are the first photos ive ever seen of this car that actually make it not look like a turd. ive always hated this thing, now i almost love it. The e92 completely wrecks the a5 in exterior styling, but the a5 interior is SECKSY

More on the chassis setup from Audiworld:
...the new A4 will utilize Audi's up-and-coming MLP (Modular Longitudinal Platform) technology which will form the basis of not only the A4 and A5, but the also soon-to-be-revealed Q5 crossover SUV, next-generation A6, the as-yet-to-be-announced A7 and even the next A8. MLP allows Audi to place the engine and transmission further back behind the axle and helps stretch the wheelbase without lengthing the car's exterior dimensions. Less front overhang means the 2009 A4 will be less front-heavy than its predecessor, a problem which has dogged most Audis for some time. The B8 A4 will only be about one inch longer than the current A4, although the longer wheelbase will make it appear to be a relatively bigger car. Front and rear overhang each decrease by nearly three inches. Thanks to its available next generation quattro all-wheel drive (rear-biased with a 40/60 split) and MLP architechture the new A4 will handle significantly better than any of the previous generation A4s before it. |

yea, i dont doubt they look better in person. to be honest, the e92 didnt really do much for me when i first saw it in pictures, but when my local dealer got the first one in, i went to see it, and called my dealer and ordered mine on the spot.

Pass that bong, dude! That's utter BS. As many others have said, all that crapola around the shifter is HIDEOUS! WTF are they going for, some sort of 747 look? That thing is busier than a one-legged cat trying to bury turds on a frozen pond. The only other thing I really don't care for is the overhang at both ends. Compare the E92 to the S5 in profile view, and there's WAY too much car in front of the wheels on the Audi, same problem at the ass end.

Too bad only the R(S) audi's are worth having.

I think the S5 is a very good looking car. The interior is nice as far as the seats...very nice actually, but I have to agree with the shift surround. I keep my arm pretty low when shifting and can just see myself hitting stuff when shifting. One thing I really like about the E92 is the clean, uncluttered look of the interior. I don't even have (or want) I-drive, so it is even more minimalist. Just my taste, I guess. |

Damn I love Audi. I'll keep my 335, but I have an R8 on order. Quite unfortunately my dealer estimates more than a year before my spot is here. The S5 looks great. I picked the S4 over the M3 back in '04, and I think the S5/335 is going to be a similar outcome for many. But the Audi is a bit of a different beast, and they each excel in different areas. And then there is that new M3 coming... which might end the argument if supply is high enough.
Short of the R8 which I am in love with, BMW and Audi are pretty comparable. And yes, I own an Audi and a BMW and love them both. _Scott PS - I post about loving my BMW on Audiworld too... |

I also agree about all the crap around the shifter. I know in my A4, the area around my shifter gets pretty banged up just with normal day to day use and abuse. I'm thinking all those buttons better be pretty tough. Also, I don't like drivercentric dash layouts. The E92 is simple and uncluttered. I own an Audi and I think the materials are pretty compariable to my car, which you could not say in previous 3 series models. I was very impressed when I had the car for my week during my Euro Delivery. So to answer the OP, no, I wouldn't have considered it if availabe. Lack of turbo six, worse gas mileage, less sexy exterior, no maintenance program, shitty dealer/service network. I still think you get you're most performance/$ with the E92. Honestly, the engine alone would have been enough reason. The reason i've kept my A4 for so long is i've been able to tweak the engine for minor $$$ over the years to give me noticable increases in HP. I've got 250 hp in my A4. A 100 hp jump from stock HP for $1500. Proceed will be able to give me a nice bump in a few years (hopefully I can wait that long) once I get used to the HP on this car.

Only in their top range. Down the range audi tries to sell you tarted up Skodas. A 320i/d is a zillion times better in every department than a similarly priced & engined A4. (Apart from looks perhaps) In my estimation, people buy these downrage models for their neighbors because they're seriously depressing to drive - even compared to french cars. |

i have love the s5 since i saw its first pictures but the price is the only thing that has me saying wait.. if its a grand or so off from the m3 then who in there right mind would get the s5 over the m3? its a hard choice. they put the s5 right where its going to be hard to sell to other people.. the a5 is weak and shouldnt cost more then 35k imho but whatever. if the s5's price were in the 335i range then this wouldnt even be a question.. s5 all the way but its priced above and it makes you consider what you really get with the 335... if the m3 price is around the same as s5 then im going with the m3 but if i can get in a s5 with navi and bang and olsen for low 50k or under then im in. god i hate this crap.. you guys seriously have no idea how much i go back and forward on the 335i/m3/s5 debate.. its starting to frustrate me! |
