I agree with you 100000000000000000%. Of all the cars to not have an M version of, this should not be it. Especially when the standard car isn't exactly what one would call a drivers car.

The two cars actually do sound quite a bit different. While your average joe might not know a difference, any BMW fan will find a very distinct difference in sound and tone. A good ear is not necessary. I'm confident everyone will love the Z4's sounds.

I can't thank you enough for posting this - it means the world to read and is why I logged in to post. I'm glad some people are taking the time to realize that StanceWorks is just a name. I believe that those are related to the air restricters that are required. But I could be wrong.

The engine is forced to breathe through two tiny 29.4mm restrictors by homologation rules. .... Since the airflow to the engine is limited, the engine is redlined at a relatively low 8,600 rpm as there is simply not enough breathing to efficiently rev higher. For what it's worth, John Dagys said in a sportscar chat last night that as far as he knows the M4 GT will debut in 2016. That makes sense, with the production model as well as the new GT regulations.

Hope he is right.

I wouldn't read to much into that. The Corvette is a few seconds off the pole time from last year. Nobody is showing their cards on Monday. Won't know true speed until qualifying, if then. Plus BMW RLL is notorious for sandbagging at the beginning of test sessions and practices. Nothing to be gained by showing up with a brand new car and posting records times on Monday.
