The statement that drunk driving has NOTHING to do with drinking is stupid and false. If he would have said "the vast majority of drinkers choose to do so responsibly, so I don't think it is fair to judge all drinkers by the actions of a few", then I would be all thumbs up. But trying to make a point by taking an indefensibly extreme and false position weakens your argument, not strengthens it. I do drink beer, so I have no moral outrage about drinking. I do have visceral outrage over blatant and self-imposed idiocy though.
Which one of those damn things means this thing is supposed to be taken lightheartedly? Oh yeah, one second...
Two rants in one day!

What kinda beers do you like, anyway?

Some people get "low" when their sugar level drops below 100. Others, like myself, can go down to 60 before we get impaired.
Wait, people have characterized low blood sugar as an enjoyable feeling? Is this something I should try?

Being on the road means that you are taking on a certain risk that is beyond your control. Other drivers under the influence are but one of those risks. Medical issues, prescription meds, inevitable accidents, sinkholes, rock slides, and maybe even an earthquake are also part of that risk.

My first professional career was as an insurance adjuster specializing in auto and significant risk files. I've seen more than enough motor vehicle carnage to last a lifetime. I have an tremendous amount of respect for the damage we can all do behind the wheel. I am a social drinker, and also quietly enjoy a glass with dinner. But, I don't drink and drive ... period. Mr Tonka seemed to want to conflate the two and I took issue with that.
Oh... never mind... hehe...

This is what I saying I would definitely agree with. For what it's worth, I don't think he was conflating the two. I just think he was pointing out that it is another risk associated with drinking. But, I'll let him answer for himself. My work is done here. I have gone off half-cocked enough for one day.

The good kind. I lived in Germany when I was about 20, so learned to drink with the good stuff (and in moderation, since it was not a taboo thing there). I like all sorts of things, but here is a list of some faves.

Many Hefeweizens - Franzikaner is a good one along with Paulaner.
Some good lagers - Pilsener Urquell, Staropramen (both Czech)
Some good Belgians
Guiness and other stouts are always nice - Samuel Smith's are particularly good

I am not a big fan of hoppy IPAs, which make me mostly uncool, but I am cool with that.

This response was pleasantly snobbish.

Not 100% sure on the beer thing, but i do believe 3 to 4 oz of red wine each day is beneficially to one's heart health. I'm sorry to tell you that I'm fairly certain maybe 96.74% that beer doesn't qualify.

It is an acquired taste, that is true. There are so many types to choose from though which is part of the fun.

Concerning the health benefits of beer, what I've read is that it can help prevent some cancers, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes along with some various other benefits. I imagine that varies widely on the type of beer, and of course the benefits will drop as consumption increases significantly.

LOL.

No, nobody (at least to my knowledge) has ever said low blood sugar is enjoyable. Was just making a comparison to getting drunk. A lot of people make getting sloshed sound enjoyable to them. Basically, impairing themselves is enjoyable.

For the record, low blood sugar is not fun. One gets all sweaty, mouth gets dry, movement becomes shaky, and headaches. Let it drop too low, and then comes the coma.

Very, very true. Those who die from cirrhosis of the liver very seldom have cancers, cardiovascular diseases, or diabetes

Well, it complex. Normal, non diabetics really can't have a low blood sugar. The body manages the metabolic processes really well, so it's not something to worry about.

It's kinda like a car actually. Higher blood sugars is like running rich. Too much sugar, that isn't being burned. Makes us sluggish. The body ends up dumping it via urine, and storing in fat. Low blood sugar is like running lean. Not enough sugar, not enough energy to function and could cause us to sputter out.

Both are bad, and both cause damage.

You need some more reps... if it weren't for that restraining order, I'd send you to a middle school to get practice... but, I guess you will have to settle for the M2 boards. Wait... if you need remedial treatments, you can always go the E9x M3 boards. It is AWESOME in there lately... (plus, I think I saw a Belgian refugee in there recently.)

I was actually pointing out that health fanatics sometimes say sugar is as much poison for your body as alcohol is. My defense for being ok with that mammoth cookie i posted last night was that at least innocent people don't die from other people driving after eating a piece of cake. Which, as you pointed out, is a verifiable fact.

A pretty silly comparison. Most picked up on the silly part.

All kinds of win in this post. Not sure where to begin. #overloaded #exploded #imploded

Speaking of which, I spent some time over on M2 post today. Man, it's getting rough in there. It's like a fucking soap opera with the lease rates and bitching.
