Massive Attack - "Daydreaming" (1991): for this track, Massive Attack pulled several samples from the hypnotic Wally Badarou track "Mambo". They kindly asked Badarou (who regularly assisted Mike Lindup on keyboards for Level 42) for permission, which he granted (they made an arrangement to avoid legal hassle). The rest is history: the track was included on the splendid "Blue Lines" album (1991) that warped Massive Attack into instant stardom. Badarou is still proud that he gave permission to the - back then - unknown innovative youngsters.
